Bit of Background on Trent

In season 2005, Trent represented the ACT-NSW Rams in the Aust U/18 championships, in season 2006 he played all year in the seniors for the East Coast Eagles in the SFL

In the SFL Trent played as an attaching HB or Wingman, but at SANFL level he may be too light for HB and may be more suited to wing / HF, very skilled left footer

Reason for moving to SA, greater football exposure, the mail was that in 2005 and 2006, there was half a dozen clubs that showed interest in drafting Trent, but he missed out, the SANFL will provide him a opportunity against stronger opposition to show case his talents to the recruitment staff

There is another young kid playing in the SFL, Key Position player, if not drafted he will be a beauty for the SANFL and will play league football from day one, I will be on the phone to the Dog Kennel during the week

Sorry mate, didn't take down the exact score but Dogs got up by just over a goal after the Eagles made a late flurry.

Niiiiiiceeeee win.

And SD - from what I saw of Goodrem, up until half time, he looked like he was struggling to adjust to the pace, getting led to the ball by is defender early. But was gradually adjusting. sounds as if he got better as game went on. Will be interesting to see how he goes when the competition is a little hotter....(and that's not a dig at the Eagles, more a comment on a dominant performance).

Does anyone know how Whoopy finished up?
I saw at one stage he was off with split webbing, returned to the field and then went back down to the changerooms with leg issues....

Dogwatcher

thanks for the feed back on Trent

SFL footy is probably the same standard as Div 2 SAAFL standard, so I was a little surprised to see Trent named for the dogs so early in the season, in saying that, he is a fantastic prospect for the long term

Lets remember Heath Hopwood was recruited from Wagga at the same age, Heath played two or three seasons in the reserves before he started to establish himself in league ranks, they are both totally different players, but one thing remains the same, Trent too will need time to develop and adjust

They might be, but the dogs dont look inconsistant, like they were last year. North are always dangerous, Port have improved on recruits, Sturt are playing good footy and South still are dangerous at noarlunga, and the rest can surprise on any day. If they keep playing with little confidence and sloppy skills like they showed today, the year could be over before they get started.

Okay ... the worst thing about today is that Central are back. They looked superb. We played pretty well in the first half, helped by us being accurate and the Dogs being inaccurate - but we still had patches where we were tough at the ball and pushed the Dogs really hard. Central were able to do it longer though and the 80 odd point margin was probably reflective of the difference between the two sides at the moment. Central won't play any worse than that in the big games, so at least we know what is required if we are even to be around the mark.

Firstly to the Dogs - the Gowans (I find it hard to tell which is which) but they both looked free of injury and moved really well today. They really turned it on when the game was on the line during the end of the 2nd quarter and during the 3rd. Callinan is sensational. As an Eagles supporter I'm not real impressed he's ben picked up by Central because he could be a Magarey chance - as if they're not strong enough even without him...

The Eagles were disappointing. Lindsay was best for us IMO. When he was in ruck during the 2nd and 3rd quarters we got the ball out of the middle and would get back in touch, but as soon as he went off Central would get it out of the middle and score the goals.

Other players who were good in patches - Cooper, Cica, McKenzie, Powell, Fiacchi, Salter.

We have quite a few players who are not up to league standard and while you can usually hide 1 or 2 in a good team - when you have 5 or 6 it really tells.

I watched the last quarter of the reserves and despite going down by 10 points, they looked to play good footy. Hier looked good in the last quarter so hopefully he comes straight back in.

The next game at Richmond becomes a MUST win.
