Very dissapointing again, another year where mid season we are looking towards next season yet again........

Still Clay Sampsons testimonial may well prove a bright spot in anotherwise written off season. :?

north were never ever going to lose but if i were andrew jarman i wouldn't be totally happy as they coasted for the majority of the day & just answered south when they got to within 5 or 6 goals, so yes they had the answers but no they didn't play 4 quarters because i feel it isn't a good sign when you just coast all day as it brings bad habits to the team, & who was on allen & ryswick ? as they were running around like unregistered dogs all day
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Interesting Day

Well done to the Roosters on a comprehensive win

Well done to the Legends on an entertaining game
Rooster Jason Roe kicking a goal on the siren to make it a ...... draw (again)
Well done to Punk Rooster who snapped a point (would have lost without it) and laid off the "Visionary" handball that set up the final tying goal.

Crowd 2228

Well done to Jason Otte who walked away with $1,000 cash after kicking the Southgate Holden Supergoal at Three Quarter Time.

Also well done to Jason Evans making his SANFL calling debut on LifeFM today. I'm sure he we tell you all about it on his sportslife program weeknights from 6.30pm.

Did I miss anyone?

Solid win for the chooks but that's all. The only highlight for me after North went into neutral after the 15 min mark of the first term was seeing Jimmy Allan's absolute dominance from the first bounce until the end.

North who lead twice today by 10 goals have got to learn how to play 25 minutes of switched on footy for 4 quarters and get out of first gear more than two or 3 bursts a game - especially against the better sides come finals. Unfortunately South did nothing to make North break into any kind of sweat after we had rattled on 6-1 to zip early. I'm sure the artic conditions didn't help inspire them either.

I will say this for the crowd and the ground overall though. Best North vs. South crowd I have seen at Artic Park since it's been open. South's catering is first class and their game day presentation is very good. I wasn't a big fan of the cars around the ground scenario when it first started but having experienced it first time today it does actually add some atmopshere and fills up what used to be a barren wasteland. Well done to Phil H and all involved at South. Good to catch up for a quick chat with Phil just before the bounce - keep up the good work.

Also had a quick chat with a very cold looking Johnny Nankervill at half time. Good to hear you on the air bringing some sanity to Footy calling - even it was on LifeFM. Now if we can only get rid of Blandis on RPH and get John on air in his place every week then things will move forward.

Well thats it for 2007. All the so called promises for the year - gone!!!

To lose at home like that, yes a bit of respect in the last 15 minutes of game, but we should not have lost like that.

I dont have the answers but seriously, its getting beyond a joke. The small supporter group we have, I can see we are all hurting.

Structure - non existant.
Attacking game - does not happen. (No.1 in hanballs in the comp - we can kick!!)
New gun recruits - take the money and run. No pride wearing the jumper.
Do they know about the history of the club?
Full time staff - has not worked.
New fortress at Noarlunga - still yet to make it just that.

Where too now for South? I think we have tried all the different avenues. Recruit local, ex AFL, new ground, new culture, new image etc...

Just a few thoughts. I still try to believe but the human soul can only take so much.
Heartbreaking.

Maybe South would have been better off afterall if Pyman defected to Sturt pre season. They were as good as anyone in the comp when at their best last season, their INs should have covered their OUTs quite well, but it appears certain players such as Ben Warren and Handby aren't maintaining their 2006 form.

It is the equal 23rd highest crowd at Noarlunga; and now only one club pairing has not reached 2000 at this venue - South vs West.

Who stood James ALLEN today ? 3 Medal votes. :prayer: :prayer: :prayer:
SA are missing CUPIDO , love him or hate him sides cant afford
to give away 60 goal per year forwards.
WARREN is missing him for sure.

Also a new record ?
Shannon MOTLOP stretchered 2 games in a row ?

Haha, come on, I'm not that good! I can only say I haven't heard of that before; as if you go off the ground one week, there's a fair chance you won't be playing the next week. That's not necessarily the case, though, but it's most likely.

Warren did alright today from limited chances at FF coming back into the Seniors but some of delivery into South's fwd line was appalling. Ken Farmer would have struggled to kcik 3 today if he was playing for South. I can't work out why Ellis is playing two's for South but Handby no suprise. He is way overweight and as a result looks lazy. I predict Southern League Footy for him next year - unless they can load him off to West who took the other pie eater in Cupido this year?

As for the supposed money South are paying Prendergast and McGrath - it is wasted. Their recruiting ranks up with some of the other recent forgetable big named players to the South. To be fair it though it appears Ginever and Pyman have got together in the past two years to see who can out bid who with big named high priced dud recruits. At this stage in a close race Port are winning that one just.

At least the Bays have been competitive.

Like the previous post. Last year, we were as good as anyone on our day. 2 players lost, more highly paid recruits $$$$$ to cover and we are 8th. It's just not got enough. if you cant improve from last year - you got problems.

Handby has not been our worst player this year. To see him in the B's i believe is the wrong call. He is a player that can change a game in 5 minutes.
Warren - can be justified.
Other players have been out of form and not switched on.

You have to ask questions where the club is headed.

Well the opening minutes of the 1st quarter can really define the match. The 1st quarter today sounds exactly like our last win. That would make it twice this year that South basically lost the game in the opening half of the 1st quarter.

Couldnt get down there today but I am obviously bitterly disappointed. Another season looks over in June. Time for some changes down South post season- all should be put on notice. Its ok to have a $3mill new development but I'm afraid that on field performance this season has been worth about $2.50. Good to hear there was a reasonable crowd, I was initially against the cars around the oval but now I too beleive they do create a lot more atmosphere .
I cannot beleive that Ellis, Handby and Twomey are all in the 2's .Surely they should be recalled after the bye, how did they go today?
