How would us having Hargs in the team today have ensured we won the game? At least Clive lead for the ball and made a contest, which is something Hargs didn't do in the last couple of weeks. There were times where there would be a pack contest last week and Hargs wouldn't even raise his arms up. No sane person who saw Hargs lack of effort in the last few weeks could question his demotion to the reserves this week. And I put Harry Miller in that category too.

Anyone with half a brain has seen that besides Rd 1 that Port play their best footy and are a 10 goal better side than normal with Hargs and Waterhouse together.
Draw + 60 pts = 60 pt victory

And that doesn't even take into account Harg's record against the Bays which is better than most other teams.

I was hoping Port would do well this year but will laugh my tits off if the 1 pt from this game costs them a finals spot.

Thats certainly not what the coach and fans think....he should have been put out to pasture end of last season.........

Therefore, his axing from the As was justified. Jarjoura should have been in the team.

Fair enough, if I barracked for a mediocre club that was happy on missing out in the finals I'd be happy too and think it was justified.

port dominated the majority of the day but didn't put it on the board (obvious), i would think port would be more devestated than glenelg (supporters) on how the whole game went, i can tell you in the bays' rooms it was very subdued as if they had lost, i think what mickan said to them was spot on
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Yes, I agree that Hargs would have been good for about 1 point today (which is all the swampy's required...) The guy's past it. Fair decision to flick the mercenary for todays game. Truth is, if Port took their chances they'd have both the premiership points. They've lost the hunger of the pre-Power Maggies... I almost feel the slightest ounce of pity for them, but then I remember who they are...

I'd hardly describe Hargreaves as a mercenary.
A player past his prime wanting to play SANFL for as long as he can would be better I reckon.
Just seems like 1 season too long though.

Agreed, he's getting paid a lot more from North for his job at the Northern Tavern than what he's getting for playing footy at Alberton, he could have taken the easy option and played country footy (god knows he was offered mega bucks at about 100 different clubs) but he wanted to keep trying to mix it with the best at the top level.
Full marks to him I say.

Anyway, who won out of Port v Glenelg in the ressies?

GINEVER at 3/4 time huddle

"Hit them hard and they will fold like a pack of cards."

PA had about 40 possesions more and would be rueing the draw
GL would be happy they fought it out and salvaged a draw

Yep , Port should have won the game but for some reason they started playing tempo footy with 10 minutes to go.

Glenelg picked up that they were shiting themselves and hadn't won for 4 weeks. The momentum changed and in the end the 2nd best side of the the day nearly got up.

Timmies coaching lost the game for Port.

Tempo football is a disaster for less skillful sides like Port and Glenelg. We tried it against Norwood two weeks ago in the third quarter when 3 goals down , end of game.

As I see it, playing Hargs in the stiffs gained us point.

We lost to Sturt with Hargs. We got a draw against Glenelg without him.

0+1 = 1.

Simple mathematics. Even for Wedgie.

Having said that, I'd rather Hargs than Jarjoura anyday and agree that we are 100% better with two targets.

We'd be 400% better if we had a gameplan though...

Aside from that, we're just lacking in the execution. Can't question the guys' committment and work ethic.

If we could mark the ball, hit the target with handballs and kick straight then we'd be unbeatable.

As well as saying that Glenelg's last 2 wins were soft victories. That may have applied in part to the West game but I would hardly call the bays win over North a soft victory?

That shows what sort of coaching mentality "Timmy" has.

[Tim Ginever seems to only have a limited view of his opponents. At the 1/4 time address against North he said the same thing kind of thing about North. With North being 29 points up, Timmy told the players that North would drop the intensity, because they would believe they had done enough. How wrong was he?
