CHANGES TO CENTRE SQUARE AT CHALLENGE RECRUITMENT OVAL
Following a request from the Glenelg Football Club, regarding the current conditions of the centre square on the oval, the SANFL has approved the request to move the centre square.
The centre circle will be moved 15 metres to the Eastern Side of the ground.
This decision to move the area was made to try and overcome the poor and muddy conditions of the centre square area. The Glenelg Football Club and the League both believe this will create a far better spectacle for patrons and increase the quality of the match, given the weekend’s forecast for more rain.

Can the club also do something about the quicksand behind the Northern goals
The section behind the cricket nets needs addressing before someone slips

I think the concern is that still kids get in there anyway and that may be a problem. I thought that those pitches were planned to be moved out behind the oval there?

i think what MAL is trying to say BAYMAN is the cricket pitches are roped off and there is a little walkway at the back which gets very muddy and slippery and as you walk from west to east behind the goals to head out into the outer side you have to slide down and hope you dont fall!!!!! hard to hold onto something if you are coming around after being at the BBQ stand.

good game today, well good result in my liking!

the game see-sawed a number of times. i think the highest margin we were up by was 17 points? norwood to their credit came back to snatch the lead. bays of the past would have fallen over and died.

best for us - Mules (captain's game), ben kane, ben moore and sam rudolph (even if vlats kicked some goals on him - note to umpires, rudolph has a giant leap, he does not need to and does not push his opponent in the back)

I think that works both ways JB, umpiring yesterday was just plain terrible - I went with a mate who follows the Bays and we were both mystified at some of the marks paid, marks not paid, push in the back decisions, ruck infringements .. You name it!!

That said, the umpires probably made fewer mistakes than the players ... It was perhaps one of the mest error-riddled games I've seen, with both sides appearing frightened to win it in the first 10 mins or so of the last quarter.

Glenelg's inaccuracy in the first quarter kept Norwood in it, and then they (Legs) hung around the mark largely on the efforts of 2 or 3 players.

Must pay homage to Ben Moore, he'd have to be my favourite non-Norwood player .. Just luv the way he busts his gut each and every week for a team for which he clearly wears his heart on his sleeve.

As always, a good social day at the Bay and at least the closeness of the contest kept it interesting, but if either team takes much away from their performance yesterday I think they're probably failing to address some bigger issues.

Good point CP the best thing that we can take away from the game is that we won ugly. Hopefully the palyers and coaching staff learn from that in that as soon as we give a sucker an even break they get on top of us.

Hopefully my lot are switched on for four full quarters this week.

Still a lot of work for the Bays to do yet...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The Bay lads around me found it pretty amusing yesterday when I commented that the last time I'd seen Norwood win there, Lennie's was still open :?

Looking forward to night football at the Bay.

Best vantage point is cricket club, but as from next year they will be charging a fee for sitting up there. Worth it though as they serve beer out of glasses. I have been watching twos from there lately. But Snouts hill still the place to be seen.

And who was the numbnuts announcer who put half time announcement on way before siren went. This allowed Norwood to kick 3 goals . (Pseudo to say was'nt even correct announcemnet!!)

The umps seemed to be very much behind Glenelg in the first half. Seemed to be making up for this in the third quarter, they got very much behind Norwood. And in the final term they were just plain rotten.

Their application of the push-in-the-back rule in particular was draconian. It seemed that a player only had to glance at his opponent's back to give away a free. Soft, soft, soft. And yet the umps managed to miss some real doozies where a dinkum shove sent a player sprawling.

Truly a woeful performance. Those cretins need to be sat in front of an umpire review panel with a DVD of the game, and then given a few weeks in the amateurs.

They over-umpired the game the week prior too, Pseudo - when we played your lot.
Waaaaaay too many frees paid soft, hard to fathom an 8 player pile up in the mud being called Holding The Ball, and just very inconsistent...

They are desperately trying to spoil a game played at a great level...
