Should be a great game. The Eagles are capable of playing some very exciting football, as they showed at Norwood last Saturday. I really like our new forward set-up, but it will be a huge test for them tomorrow. We are definitely in with a chance this time.

IF and it is a big IF the EAGLES can get the ball out of centre first. Then I can see what they did to Sturt earlier in the year happening again.

But I urge all EAGLES FANS young and old alike get to Elizabeth band together and support your TEAM the current reigning Champs THE EAGLES.
Go YOU MIGHTY EAGLES .

I try to look at the difference between the two sides, and probably notice that while we had a few tall forwards, we didn't have enough height in the defence. Sibenaler was well on top of Schwarze, but Salter was on fire. However, at the other end, Central didn't really have a key forward on top in the first three quarters, but they had options to switch into there in the last quarter - Grima and Schell. That is what probably made the difference. We certainly took it up to them though, but you do not get premiership points for being behind by 10 points.

Some people do give a crap. Why? because it reflects on the club on how well the Juniors go.

You're right, I guess it'll have a negative affect on the South Adelaide football club if I post their U/17s score in a match thread that's not theirs.

BTW, you never responded to my question about last week's umpiring in the Eagles v Norwood U/17s match. Do you have a free moment to do that now? I was in attendance at that match and am keen to hear your views.

It looked a very high standard game on the TV

I wondered how the Eagles were sitting 4th, watching them today

And Centrals looked great

Should be a great finals series!

It was a really good game of footy today. As hard as I've seen all year. Central withstood the challenge and held on in the end to win by 10 points. You could see what it meant to the Central boys when the final siren went, they knew they earnt it.

As always with Central vs Eagles games, the tactics were interesting. Laird changed up during the second quarter and had Central push all their numbers behind the ball (flooding). They would kick the ball into space and allow their runners to run on to the ball and this worked in the second quarter. The Eagles couldn't make a contest along the half forward line, continually going long and not even be able to produce a contest. Fuller obviously had a word at half time and the Eagles used shorter options and pushed the dangerous Salter to the square, which produced some goals and a lead at 3 quarter time. The Eagles coaching staff and players must be aware of the changes Central make tactically during a game and be prepared to adapt when needed. In today's case they needed to act early in the second quarter instead of waiting till half time to be told.

It was a great effort though and I'm happy with the progress the Eagles are making. The next two games are a must win against quality opposition in Sturt and North if we are to make the top 3.

Highlight of the day for me was Giuffreda's tackle in the 3rd quarter. It changed the game our way. Best players for the Eagles I thought were Cicolella, Treeby, Lomas, Salter, Powell and Jarrad. Dabrowski was our most effective ruckman today, with Lindsay being mostly ineffective.

Interesting hearing the security guard say he had to protect Umpire Pfeiffer from James Gowans in the race at half time. Wonder if that will be taken any further???

Great to watch the footy with mickyj and his son today. Very knowledgeable about the game and nice blokes!

Dogs are still doing some things differently than at the start of the year. Most obviously is Grima up forward and Sibenaler at full back. It will be interesting to see whether Laird will change this back or stick with the current structure. Dogs definitely heavy in the legs throughout, and especially towards the end. Hopefully this is just a sign of the extra running they're supposedly doing and not something more worrying.

Best for the dogs were Hayes, who took some great marks, Griffin, especially in the second half, Symes was again good in traffic while Slade is playing as well as he has for a couple of years now, and Lawry was a great focal point all day long but especially in the second half I thought. Several on ballers were down a bit so it's good to note that we won despite many of our most clinical ball users not getting the ball as much, or having more tha their usual amount of poor disposals. Was happy to see Laird giving Sibenaler the whole game when I thought he might be tempted to take him off and try something else when Salter was doing some damage on him.

The Eagles have some good kids coming through, especially Salter, and although things may be harder when Colville, Cicolella and Lindsay aren't around but I'm sure someone will step up when the time comes. Looking at the names of both teams it's hard to see either team being in the lower half of the ladder for most of the next decade as well.

Vince can't play like that without going to the crows IMHO. Maybe not the most prolific player but his hardness and attack on the ball was at times what the crows got him for in the first place.

Grima looked dangerous forward, but let himself down with his kicking. Interesting also to see Schell moved to Full Foward for the last quarter. It's such a luxury to be able to do that, but just wondering if they're toying a bit much?

I still can't get over the pressure these two teams put on each other today. Made me tired just watching it. So tired I fell asleep through most of the first half of the showdown tonight.

Another belter of a game between these two sides. Very little separated the two teams

Once again, the umpires got an armchair ride from the Eagles, and the umps did their dearest to give the Eagles the win, but Centrals overcame that minor obstacle (and we didn't even have Williams umpiring).

Given what could be heard from the Eagles coaches box in the first quarter, could Ron Fuller be getting coaching advice from Brendan Joyce? **** **** **** ****

It was a great game, agree the umpiring was'nt the best today with alot of inconsistancies (as usual).
Both sides played hard tough footy and never gave an inch. I thought the eagles skills were a bit better than ours at times, so to come out with a win was a good effort. The move to put Havelburg to the backline and Schell up forward was a good one, because i thought Havelburg made some good contest and Schelly gave a target in front of goals.
Got to the ground at half time of the reserves game and saw trhe eagles up by about 56 points. Then saw all the league players the eagles had and realised why they were so far in front, but to dogs credit they fought back to only lose by 12 points.
Eagles played well and could do alot of damage come finals time, so that makes the next 2 weeks very crucial for them to make the top 3.
Another thing as i was walking down the stairs near the canteen at the end of the game, along side of me was a very uncomfortable Tim Inkster hobbling down the stairs, did not look 100% at all.He really struggled down those stairs.
