Gary Cameron apparently, not that there is any release at all on the SAFC website.

Oh the irony

Is this the same bloke who has been the man behind the recruitment of the many interstate recruits from Victoria is the last few seasons?
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

Great communication that.

There is a bigger picture people.

I was told the exact same thing by a south player who got dropped to the Magoos recently, he wasnt bagging Pyman in any way but 6 weeks ago he said he was talking to everyone, seems like the begining of the end.

Just for confirmation:

Pyman sacked
Article from: The Advertiser
WARREN PARTLAND

August 08, 2007 02:15am

SOUTH Adelaide is to start its search for a new coach immediately following the sacking of Robert Pyman.

The decision to terminate Pyman's contract was made at a board meeting on Monday night, 24 hours after the Panthers were thrashed by the Port Adelaide Magpies.

The players were informed of the decision at training last night.

Assistant coach Gary Cameron will take over the role for the final four matches of the season.

etc.

well the players in the end probably had got the coach sacked., because as many people have stated at the end of the year it was going to either be the coach or the players, well it didnt get to the end of the year......

but really the way he was doing his job and complete lack of communication with players, the lack of respect he held for them which also turned the otherway it is no wonder he is out the door.

there was plenty of dis-illusioned people at the club, it almost became a morgue.

Pyman sacked Kenna who I would think would be in the top 3 players at the club, I wonder how the club feel about that now, as they are re-imbursing him his air-fares, maybe they will talk him into flying back and forth with a new coach.
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

He'd probably have to take a BIG pay cut to take the job on, with his TV stuff, radio stuff and all the commercials he does. He whores himself around a lot.

Assuming that we're talking about the same player, which I'm confident we are, was speaking to him at the Pier back on Adelaide cup day and I know he had nothing but good things to say about Pyman at the time so it certainly would make you wonder what's been occuring recently.

Sort of sad to hear that analysis 1980.TM. I didn't see SANFL in 2001, I was in Japan already. 2000 was the last complete season I saw. When I left Oz, Carman's Blues were still pretty hot. You have dashed that impression I had of him now. :(
Isn't it possible that maybe we just had a bad year that year? Not arguing with you (how could I? I wasn't there.) just...probing.

Don't have a false opinion of him, because what he did at Sturt can't be understated. Its just that the simplicity of his game plan became its undoing....

He still was a major influence on what happened in 2002 it just need some fine tuning and tweaking from Phillips to get your lot over the line. Just like Greame Campbells influence can not be understated in our flag win in 85 and to a lesser extent 86.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

That would make the game plan redundant then. I was hoping he'd give the South job a crack, and do well. But if everybody already has an answer to his coaching then that doesn't look likely.
I agree, what he did at Sturt shouldn't be understated. I reckon you could almost build a life-size bronze statue between the two stands at the Western gate of Unley oval of Phil. Didn't bring home a flag, but strewth his contribution to the club was monumental when you consider that no one else wanted a bar of it. And he did it so well.
