but they have brought in 3 very good players that will enhance their list .

Sturt don’t kick enough goals & haven’t addressed it.

Disappointingly we’ve lost a few players that didn’t play in the league GF as well, hopefully a few of our reserves players can step up but some of those guys we lost are elite, depth won’t be as good either. Think we’ll be around 3-5 this season. Reminds me of 2020.

We’ll be fine, mate. We’re the team to beat.

Absolutely you are just a matter of who you play in the GF

Just what the club needed! Poor bloke hasn’t played football in 18 months due to concussion. From memory his last game was late in 2022 against Glenelg at the Bay in wet conditions and he almost single handedly won the game for West before coping a knock to the head late in the game on the outer wing. Not even 30 yet, got to do best thing for his long term health. Good luck to him returning to full health.

Reminds me of the former NZ cricketer, Bob Cunis

Good one. Read this only recently.

A memory of English cricket commentator John Arlott, who always had a glass of red wine beside him as he worked …

This Arlott story concerns New Zealand bowler Bob Cunis.

Bob couldn’t be described as medium pace because he wasn’t quick enough. But he couldn’t be called a spinner because he didn’t spin it.

At the end of a long’s day play, after several bottles of red wine, Arlott advised his listeners:

“And, as for Cunis, his bowling, like his name, was neither one thing nor the other.”

I hope you're right. I think we look shaky down back and we're missing quality in the middle, lacking pace. Lost a really good backup ruckman as well. A couple of injuries or someone gets picked up mid season and we're in big trouble. Really only recruited one player outside of a couple of returning juniors, ex players. Not good enough when you're aiming to go back to back IMO. Centrals and Sturt would be better prepared than us for 2024 IMO, Norwood always buy a few good players, North look to have added a bunch of good players too. Hope i'm wrong but I think we've dropped the ball again.

Yep, I noticed in Meggsys latest email update to members, he specifically mentioned all recruits, except Oscar, so I would assume this has fallen through.

Midfield will be the concern; you can't just replace Partington and Turner. I can see Bell getting a lot more mid time and hopefully the young fellas that have been rotated through this year can step up and help out a battered Snook. Backline will be good enough and we still have the best forwards by a margin. Top 3 finish on the cards and we will see where that takes us.
