Disappointing news.

https://sanfl.com.au/league/news/crowds-stay-capped-at-1000-for-round-4-of-sanfl-statewide-super-league/

Crowds stay capped at 1000 for Round 4 of SANFL Statewide Super League

Crowds at SANFL venues for Round 4 of the Statewide Super League this weekend will remain limited to 1000 spectators, with SANFL Clubs yet to be granted approval by SA Health for their Covid Management Plans.

All SANFL Clubs have lodged the mandatory management plans with SA Health to allow them to admit more than 1000 spectators at grounds and for attendance to be based on the one person per two square metre density requirement.

SANFL Chief Executive Officer Jake Parkinson said SA Health was currently considering the management plans and consulting with SANFL Clubs but has advised the League it was unlikely to be in a position to approve the plans by the end of this week.

“Once again, we were extremely hopeful that our SANFL Clubs could have bigger crowds at grounds this Saturday, but at this stage, it looks unlikely this approval will happen this week,” Mr Parkinson said.

“Our Clubs spend a tremendous amount of time, effort and money on match day planning at their venues, so right now they can only plan for limited crowds of 1000 people.

“What’s most important right now is that football is played and spectated in a safe manner and within SA Health regulations.

“We are privileged here in SA that we have footy back and with attendances and this is something which we must protect by doing the right thing to keep everyone safe in our community and ensure that we can continue to enjoy crowds at our favourite SANFL venue.”

Mr Parkinson said that due to the restrictions, priority again would be given to ticketed Club Members to attend Round 4 matches this Saturday. This includes:

Season (home and away) members
Home match members for home teams North Adelaide, West Adelaide, Norwood and South Adelaide
Children (under 18s) only admitted if they hold a financial membership.

Admission for these members would be on a first in, first serve basis at the gate, with members to have their barcoded membership cards scanned upon entry.

Limited tickets may be available for some venues at the gate, with supporters advised to contact their SANFL Club for further information.

For club members wishing to arrive early at grounds this weekend to ensure admission, gate opening times will be available on the SANFL and SANFL Club websites and Facebook pages.

Spectators are reminded of the importance of practising social distancing and good hygiene when attending games.

Must be a backlog of applications to host more than 1000 people at an event.

NA V WWT
This match started 7 seconds late
The ump bounced the ball to start the match , and it was recalled
The ump threw the ball in the air- by the time the ball was motioned in play 7 seconds had expired

Should the SANFL/AFL add time on for these instances ?

Not sure whether this has already been posted but this article indicates that the Eagles have just signed up VFL star Sam Lowson who is seeking to play in the SANFL season to keep AFL recruiters interested in him.

Might be very new as I haven't seen or heard anything officially released from the Club yet.

Great pickup from the Eagles if correct.

Makes sense.

Maybe he made some tentative enquiries with the Eagles about the possibility of moving across to the SANFL and some reporter has taken liberty to to 'confirm' the move.

He would have been a handy pickup but would hate to have seen him taken a spot from any of our young players who have been superb this year.

I think the deadline was extended to July 30. Hearing at least 2 other clubs have signed ruckman/key forwards.

Unless here now they are 3 weeks from playing though.

Can get a COVID permit until the end of July for those players in leagues that are no longer playing

Actual transfers are closed

One has signed a ruckman and an on ball player.

SANFL feeling sorry for us, Murray Stephenson offered a reprimand.

Must be the first time ever we've had someone not suspended.

Video of the reported offence.

He's been offered a reprimand. If he doesn't accept and tries his luck at the tribunal he may well be suspended (depending on the decision of the tribunal panel).

That's a bit revisionist I reckon. We, like most clubs, have had a great run over the years.

I would challenge. The Norwood player jumps high to evade the tackle which takes the control out of the tackle.
