Agree micky about Fitzgerald and also think Muirhead is disappointing to lose, but the rest are, in the harsh light of league footy, so-so.
Disappointing, too, MacKenzie never really developed, but have plenty of tall defenders now.
Admire Lane for at least sticking it out longer than others who left for $$'s, but never showed he was going to be a consistently good league footballer.
Also hear that we may only have Aseri for a year or two before heading back home.

Thought Lane played some decent games in the back pocket for us last season in the final 7-8 games. Agreed he did stick it out longer than many others but at the end of the day he showed he isn't capable of consistently playing at SANFL league standard.

Personally, I'm glad the club is making the call to move on some of these types. I'd rather the Reserves finish last each season and develop 1-2 league standard players each year rather than finish top each year and develop nobody.

Jack Muirhead has just received his first teaching appointment after completing his studies. He will be teaching in Port Augusta for 2015, this is the reason he will not be with the Eagles. His future career will most probably continue in the country for sometime.

I'm surprised that schwarz and Martyn are still at the Eagles they are barely B graders, the Eagles are scraping the bottom of the barrel if they get a game

Not according to this story. Apparently Stribling has signed at Kaniva-Leeor along with Seb Guilhaus. Not sure where Dowdell has gone though.

I'm guessing he is the exempted leadership player for 2015? Doesn't mention it in the article but seen as he was AFL listed last year you would think that's the case and then he can get paid more too i think from memory. Then again the rules changed at the end of the year :? Would be good to know what restrictions are in place for the AFL reserves for 2015..

He's just turned 20...the exempted leadership player rule applies to someone 28+ doesn't it? Pretty sure that all the SANFL contractors earn the same, $400 for league games, $100 for reserves games.

Craig Evans has done his ACL again. Feel for the bloke, been a great honest contributor for us but I wonder now if we'll ever see him in the SANFL again.

Glad he set that record straight. Contradicting his insistence that it wasn't because he got dropped for the Grand Final that he left In the same article/interview!

Pretty sure the leadership player is exempt from that and can be paid more but like you said doesn't sound like he qualifies to be a leadership player anyway. Also he wouldn't have qualified to be listed as a player for Port or the Crows under the rules last year, can't sign anyone that was on an AFL list the previous year. Amazing, once again the rules have been bent for Port Adelaide, what a joke. Would like to know the answer as to why he has been allowed to be signed, same goes for the Crows if they sign an ex AFL player. Disgrace.

Which Rioli's is he related to? I played with another Willie Rioli in the NT who was Maurice's nephew in junior footy in the 80's

I thought Willie was Maurice's youngest brother. Could be wrong though.

Like you Hazbeen I played footy against Willie in the 80s, or should that be tried to play footy against him. He was the best of the lot of that era up there In those NT rep sides - Buckley Francis, Etc.
