Im hearing Jacks letting Potts go?
How can Jack do this after the season Pottsys produced. One of the astute understanders of the game and a great assistant to the league side aswell.
I know that the players that play under him respect the way he goes about his coaching and always gets the message across and his players this season delivered a great year.

If Pottsy and Cammo aren't retained it will be a great shame for our club.

If Pottsy is let go it will be a poor decision, his coaching record should have him nicknamed mini-jack because it is superb. Club has gotta remember that he took a young reserves lineup all the way to the GF this year despite many on and off field distractions at Noarlunga.

I agree that without doubt Pottsy has done a terrific job this year and should be retained. However the appointment of Cahill will hopefully be the start of a successful period for the club.Cahill is starting from scratch and to get the desired outcome he needs to have the people around him that he feels comfortable with. If that includes Trevor Potts, terrific, if it does not then so be it.
Cahill has a 2 yr contract and at the end of the day he will be judged on performance. If he can deliver South some marked improvement and perhaps a premiership I would'nt care if he had Humphrey Bear as his assistant.

As tough and as hard as it sounds Jack has to do this, if he is to be given every chance to make the club competitive he has to have free reign to appoint those that he feels can do the job. He can not be put in a position where the club dictates to him who he is to have working under him. Jack Cahill has my full support in a total clear out of anyone he so desires at the club.

I am a member of the SAFC and am very much passionate about our great club. Yet the blunt facts of it are that we are going absolutley nowhere are present and are considered a joke by many people in SANFL circles mainley because of our total lack of competitivness on the field in recent years.

South can and will become competitive in the SANFL, yet to get there hard decisions have to be made and not ones based on emotion but getting the best people for the job.

It is established by Kevin Morris's report that the playing group in the past and present have called all the shots at South and have walked all over the coaching staff on various occassions and with the support of the club managment who have been too weak to deal with those issues. Cahill is appointed for many reasons, one to bring accountablility and cultural change into the club. If it then suits Cahill to put in people like George Fiacchi and Roger Delaney into the club to achieve that goal, then go make it so and the sooner the better.

tough call on potsy but you would think that jack would have a plan and going on what he has done in the past you would expect the panthers to improve next season

From a source that is realiable (is there any other) speaking to Cahill on GF day he apparently said this is going to be tough to turn not just the league side but the club into a culture of winners. However with some specific recruiting he feels there is plenty of talent at the club throughout all grades and can see no reason why finals can't be achieved but there will be plenty of hard yards ahead. Apparently he is looking forward to the challenge however he will be taking no prisoners. Advice to board members, players and supporters, keep your heads down and join in the journey, no more whinging from anyone!

Totally agree b&w.

Cahill is there to make the tough decisions and get the right mix to go forward. Tough calls have to be made with out the influence of the board getting involved and so called "other" outside influences.

It's going to be tough but I feel in the long run with pay off in the end.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

I'm glad someone agrees with me..! Whatever has gone on at South up until now just clearly hasnt worked (go figure). A line needs to be ruled off at this time and all bets are off so to speak, the time for sentiment and niceties is over. While Pottsy deserves his chance on performance alone, if he doesnt fit in with Jacks' plans well.. I'm sorry..
From a very good source I hear that there may be some news regarding departing players in the next couple of weeks.

Maybe we could also get John Platten, Bones McDermott and Michael Aish to come out of retirement and help us out.

I read this with interest as the success Jack created and fronted at Alberton is legendary. Both as player and coach. My observation is this.

For a 'club' to run in a successful manner all involved must be pulling in the same direction, any pieces of the puzzle stray and all hell breaks loose. For you blokes who know the 'club',from the barmen,to secretarys and back room staff,do they all really have their heart behind Jack? Really?

If not,Jack's impact will be minimal as the seed of doubt you have harvested for many years will continue to grow.I hope, really hope the club in all parts from top to bottom gets behind Jack.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Or Kerls at West in 92 and 93 or Kerls at West Torrens in 1977 to 1980.

Hawk, Ben Porter replaced Darren Mead and is doing a great job as Meady did in recognising talented youth in our zones and getting them to the club. As for getting behind Jack the club has no choice, if we fall apart again after this appointment then the future of the club would be tenuous, however, the assistant coach (es) appointments are really significant as they will be taking over when Jack dies....err sorry retires.
