The tackle was nearly on the Northern edge of the square (I thought it was just out of the square but I may be wrong)

It was the most obvious holding the ball of the day. Obviously the umpire was trying to make a name for himself to get ino the AFL. It was certainly too far out for De Pasquale to shoot for goal but it did cost North a goal in that many players anticipated that it was holding the ball and Ebert was able to drift down on his own, receive a short pass from DE Pasquale and goal. Perhaps the worst umpiring decision I have seen this year, it was no "sling tackle".

I can see your point RIG. I can obviously only judge by what has been written on here, so I can't speak about the actual tackle, and the subsequent Port goal, with any authority. There is obviously a difference of opinion on here as to the validity of the tackle.

However, league footballers should know golden rule of playing to the whistle. If they've anticipated the decision, however bad or good, and left their opponents unguarded in their forward half - let alone a player of Ebert's experience - then they've done themselves no favours in my view. Especially if some of the umpiring is as below par as we keep hearing from some.

Just my 1.818 cents (plus GST) worth.
