So,we lose our first game for the year and the wheels are falling off? I don't think so and Bass is entitled to call it as he saw it, exactly as I did. North were lucky in many ways, they only won by a point and had the benefit of 8 or 9 holding the ball decisions, Back well receiving an off the ball free for faking a hit when we were shooting for goal. There were. 2 or 3 times when North defenders tunnelled our forwards and the none call for Bode when Thiele froze like a rabbit in spotlights which should have resulted in HTB.Batsanis was done for HTB when he was in the act of kicking and had no prior opportunity. Strange then when we received 3 decisions for in the back , I felt they were HTB ! Well done North you certainly came to play. Norwood are certainly a good side still and will respond as a good side should.

RobeDog, your 4 lines of twaddle won't get your side through to The Big Dance this year, sorry. I mean, come on. You lost your 1st game this year & you are ALREADY looking for lamo excuses?? :D ;)

I only watched the last 1/4 closely on tv so I can't comment on the umpiring for the whole game but I thought it was pretty fair in the last, Norths attack on the ball/opposition was excellent which I thought was a large part of them getting over the line. Bode was stiff not to get paid a free but also shouldn't have reacted like that, may be a part of why he is no longer at Sturt.
I can't see a problem with Bassetts post game comments, he's being honest, what do you want, a robot with scripted non committal jibberish?
As for the umpiring, in general it's been woeful this year and for some time now, no the free count doesn't have to be even but umpiring should be consistent and it is lacking in this area terribly. The Eagles Sturt game was a case in point this year. If it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck and looks like a duck then call it a f-ing duck, same goes for poor umpiring. People's excuses of a teams poor discipline etc for umpiring decisions sometimes just doesn't stack up.

only caught the last quarter... have to agree with Bassett (not saying he should of said it)thought North were lucky . they were given about 3 shots at goal from frees (think they missed most, unlucky not to win by more) and then that reversing to Jace Bode which resulted in a goal. You could completey understand his frustration..north got 2 holding the balls in a row in front of goal 2 minutes before that (one was there one wasnt) his NOTHING, of course he was pissed.

yeah its not about the free kick count its about where they are given...

still well done to North, good to see them up and about.

that loss will only fire up norwood.

Still had enough chances to win

Not disagreeing but that statement also applies to North - Stewart and Johnston both missed 3 relatively easy set shots that you expect AFL listed players to nail on a day where there was no wind or enviromental factors.

Funny how those players including Newton would nail them at training or during the warm up yet the match pressure changes the mindset!

Just bcos u have guys with AFL experience does not mean they can or should kick goals, christ some of them are the worst kickers of goals, either set shots or on the run, you see it every weekend where they miss from 25 metres out dead in front.

You seem to know all the rules

Whats your decision ?
A player marks the ball, turns around, plays on, just gets past his opponent
The opponent tackles him by the ankle and trips him, the player disposes of the ball
Whats the decision ?
A play on ?
B pay the trip ?
C pay a trip and a 25m penalty ?
D if the ump does not call play on is it 25 m or 50m penalty /
E report for a trip, even though it appears it was not intentional
F Disagree somehow on whatever becoz I posted

Can anyone answer this question ?

MAL I'll have a go ;) ;)

If the player disposes of the ball and it goes to advantage then - A ; Play on
- otherwise B; Pay the trip.
