Was this one more exciting than the finish in the 2010 prelim?

Hear hear. The last three visits I've had to Woodville when we've lost have been marred by some cocky f*cktard having a go at our group as we've been leaving, totally unprovoked.

They are the masters of being silent when their team is behind and being absolute carnts of the highest order when the victory is gained.

Frontrunners of the highest order.

No wonder so many of them are also Crows fans.

I'm surprised Fatal. The only educated port supporter I've ever met in my life and yet you slip with these uneducated comments. I understand that you are a little unsettled with port power doing so poorly.

Spend some time in the outer at alberton, and I'm not talking about the bowling club.

Anyway a fantastic win by the Reigning premiers against ethelton, unhappy that I missed it live.

Eddie Eagle - all clubs have them but I must say from recent visits to both Alberton and Woodville - the Eagles supporters are far worse than the Port supporters from my point of view. Would like to pay back the Eagles supporters for their stupid ill-informed comments when we play at Prospect trouble is the Eaglers have bugger all supporters and don't travel. Maybe that's because they have the oldest on average supporter base in the SANFL? It's like visiting early entry seminar for retirement homea when you play at Woodville!

Pretty certain pipers isn't too interested in how Port Adelaide are doing in the AFL.

As for his comment being uneducated, well, if someone at Woodville gave him reason to think poorly of that individual and other Eagle fans then it is an educated comment. Fair to say mickey was witness to some twit, the bloke getting up in his face. Pipers dealt with a clown and so did I, I also had a bloke in the grandstand who was very good and was as dismayed at the umpiring as I was and we shook hands and had a chat after the game.

So without question all clubs have dickhead supporters and to deny that would be uneducated.

Factually incorrect. ... well at least if you consider a "supporter" someone who buys a membership and attends their teams home matches.

Claim 1) Oldest Average supporter base in SANFL

With the Eagles junior supporter and family friendly membership focus in recent years the average age of our members has dropped from 43.9 in 2009 to 22.0 in 2011.

I would be shocked if that is the oldest in the SANFL

Claim 2) Bugger all supporters - Part A

North's current membership (all ages) is 2107 (NAFC web site)

Eagles current membership OVER 18 is 2160 (53 more)
plus we have 1464 signed up members under 18

this does not include the approx 2,200 auskickers & junior club players in our zone who receive an Eagles Junior Members pack as part of their registration fee.

3) Bugger all supporters - Part B

After 9 home games each
- North home games - 21,198 attended
- Eagles home games -- 24,629 attended

So Eagles have had 3,431 more attend their home game so far this season.

Unless North can get over 5,000 to the game againt Port it will be the first time since I started keeping figures in 2003 that the Eagles have had a higher home match figure than the Roosters.

I should also add we are
- 45 per game behind Port
- 32 per game ahead of Sturt
- 99 per game ahead of Central

Do they also have bugger all supporters this year?

Nice stats, but otr is referring to the Eagles playing away and the amount of supporters who travel to those away games, nothing to do with memberships and home game attendances.

Nice spin Phil - at least at North we are not signing up cats, dogs, goldfish and giving away freebie memberships! Seriously though you were smarter than that!

Well OTR made three SEPERATE claims

1) - "Eagles have bugger all supporters
AND
2) they dont travel"

3) "They have the oldest supporter base in the SANFL"

Stats are only available for two of those.

If you want to push the story that Eagles fans don't travel fine by me

But don't say we have the oldest supporter base because it is simply not correct

And don't say we have bugger all supporters unless you want to include your club in the same category.

There are no Pet memberships at the Eagles OTR, and I make no apologies for enagaging strongly with potential new supporters that will sustain my club for with a strong fan base for decades to come.

Shouldn't every club be doing this, at least those that want a future?

Even if you take our our Junior program the FACT remains
- Eagles ADULT membership is highers than Norths TOTAL membership
- Eagles home crowds have now overtaken the Roosters

And to argue against the home-ground figures, would imply that every other teams supporters don't travel to Prospect, but do travel to Woodville.

No issue or argument with North's figures vs. Eagles but remember stats don't always tell the real story but if you think your lot travel better then so be it.

This is a good thread. All teams have some supporters who wouldn't take home to meet your mum, but most SANFL fans are pretty good. I remember being donged on the head with an umbrella by a North lady at Alberton in the 1970s, having a full can of beer showered over me by a Torrens supporter in the 1980s etc. But generally you can chat to most opposition supporters and it's OK, especially now, when loyalty to a SANFL club indicates a superior form of commitment in this AFL age. As for WWT - yes, a couple of knuckleheads in the terraced area in front of the Percy Fox Green stand, but they are outnumbered by a lot of good footy people, and I have noticed a lot more travelling fans in the past two years. To sum up, ignore the idiots and focus on the footy.

wrong again, Malaka. Bitch-dom is created when one side loses to the other side 4 (or is it 3) games in succession. now go back behind your northern goals with your other 'tards & bang your kettle drum some more.
