Why on earth is it 16 in the SANFL if it's 32 in the AFL?

"Harsh penalty" - that's the whole idea.
"One of your better players, and maybe best ruckman in the league" - irrelevant.
This sniper has had plenty of chances.

Actually sympathy comes before both syphilis and suicide in the dictionary.

You beat me to it. If Parry wants sympathy he'll find it in the dictionary between shit & syphilis.

Sorry gentlemen and Dedja, he'll be back for finals after being reinstated, with a last chance.
This was assessed 12 months ago as a possibility and you'll find it's because of the retrospective nature of it that he'll get that chance.
Oh by the way Dedja, got your usual 4 week SANFL finals tickets? See you there as always heh  Pussycats

Killa, is there a technicality that the player needs to be informed individually by the league when he reaches a certain number of games? And maybe this hasn't happened, hence the appeal? Only surmising.

Always liked Parry as a player and he seems decent enough except for his white line fever.
Not sure a law can apply retrospectively unless that retrospectivity is specifically mentioned in the law.
I think he will get off this time on that basis.

You'd think he'd be target #1 if he is allowed to play on..... I'd be instructing my side to rip into him.

That's OK. We can win the flag in 3. Next year doesn't matter and I'd expect he'd retire from the SANFL at the end of the season anyway.

What a ridiculous rule this is.

To deregister a player for a series of minor indiscretions is a joke.

Maybe once you reach a certain threshold, each suspension carries a double penalty (i.e. 3 weeks = 6 weeks, etc.) would be fairer.

So you've single handedly decided he'll get another chance? The SANFL don't get a say?

I research this after an sgfl player is close to 16 games limit. The sanfl needs to inform Parry in writing, 'informing he is getting close to being deregistered' . 'If', this process was not completed, he can not be deregistered.

How would this work if Dustin Fletcher played for the Crows? If he got dropped, he wouldn't be allowed to play in their reserves team in the SANFL - or if he could, then he's getting a different set of rules than everyone else. If this happened to Parry next year, it may not have been a problem.

As it is, glad to see the back of him.

Only 50% of suspensions while in the AFL count, 1/2 of 20 is 10 games, he would still get to play in any comp when finished in the AFL

Thanks for that Ian. Then if he got suspended playing SANFL? No halving of that I'd expect.

Jeez, Steven Baker and Daryl White must have had a lot of AFL suspensions. They were deregistered pretty soon after leaving the AFL.
