Getting rid of McGregor was the easy part, If they don't want to walk getting rid of any of the board at North is near on impossible, Bohdan has his merry group of happy clappers that believe he can do no wrong and they vote the way of Bohdan's wishes, the board has lost a few very good members over the years because they stood up to him, next election they were gone

If he hadn't have moved on I dare say he would've tweeted something a bit more vitriolic.
It was a tongue in cheek throw away line.
Maybe some supporters haven't moved on...

Nope, definitely moved on. I looked at it genuinely hoping for something funny even if it was from a coach that didn't have much success.

Well I don't know if I'm just cynical or not but I found this to be a pretty soft article in the Tiser. (Bold and underline emphases are mine).

NORTH Adelaide has sacked coach Ken McGregor after both parties agreed the role had become too demanding given the former Crows player’s hectic schedule.

McGregor took the position part-time last year and was balancing it with full-time work as a journalist at News Corp SA.

The Roosters — a grand finalist two seasons ago — are bottom of the SANFL ladder with a 1-7 record and without a win since their opening game.

North chairman Bohdan Jaworskyj said the club decided to release McGregor today, rather than at the end of the season when his two-year contract ended, because it “didn’t have a vision that things were going to improve dramatically quickly”.

Roosters assistant Michael Handby has been appointed interim coach.

“The bottom line is I think there were time constraints preventing him from doing the extra things that needed to be done when things aren’t going well,” Jaworskyj said.

“You need to put more energy into managing things when they’re tough.

“Ken is a terrific individual and we have no issue with the way he’s gone about his task ... but fundamentally it comes down to a time thing and being able to apply to the job.”

McGregor said it became apparent this season the job required more hours but he was unable to increase his time commitment.

He said he understood the club’s decision and left it on good terms.

“From a time factor, with the enormity of the job and the position we find ourselves in, I probably just allowed a few things to slip and I wasn’t able to devote the time to fix them,” McGregor said.

“I’m realistic about the fact that our results weren’t acceptable ... and the person most responsible for that is the coach.”

McGregor’s cause was not helped this year by having six to 10 first-choice out injured for much of the season, including prized recruit Lewis Johnston.

The club lost its most recent match to previously winless Glenelg, bringing the situation to a head.

I cant recall a media outlet being so (seemingly!) "understanding". Oh, hang on. Ken quit his "part time job that needed more hours" so he could stay in his job as a journalist with "News Corp" (as opposed to The Tiser!). And then there's all those injuries. Injuries are certainly in a different category to those clubs who get smashed by the AFL draft in any given season.

Sigh.

I actually thought Ken was a good coach at the Magpies with what he had to work with there at a time when they were under a lot of pressure to just survive.
Who was the last coach at North to leave on his own terms?

With all due respect Squawk, coaches of just about any club usually leave because they were sacked.
The last coach to leave Sturt on his own terms was Oatey, back in 82'.

Heard some unfavourable comments about Darren Mead around the place tonight, what's he doing that's so bad?

Seemed like a throwaway line to me, nothing in it IMHO

Most thing of interest I noticed in Gowans' response was the hashtag replicating what many North supporters are saying on here.

Yep wasn't very popular in his Gaza days

Apparently used to raise the question of how many AFL games they had played compared to him pretty often

Seemed to be very protective of SANFL reserve grade players that the head coaching staff wanted to move on.

Made a nice contrast with Trevor Hill, Macca and Rocky.
Ah, whatever happened to those good old days?
