All discussions to do with the SANFL

BPBRB wrote:With all due respect to Hargs (and he is a mate) he can only play at FF. His overhead marking power has diminished signifacantly over the last 18 months and there is no way he could play CHF. On the lead and lace out he is still dangerous but age and injury toll on his back/hammies and knees over the past seasons has seen him lose a lot of jumping ability and agility on the ground. Hargs missed 6 games this year and played about 4 or 5 carrying injuries. Hargs only played as much as he did this year in the league for North because first Alleway and then Weatherley suffered long term injuries plus Gill missed a number of games.

How Cupido, Waterhouse and Hargraves would go in the same fowd line will be one of the intriguing things come 2007 if it happens?. All 3 of them would hardly be described as having much of a defensive component to their individual (or the team) game plan. I'll take Gill, Alleway and Weatherley (plus one or two others about to be announced by North) ahead of Hargs, Cupido and Waterhouse if given a choice despite friendship loyalties etc.

Waterhouse does have a very good defensive side to his game. The trouble is he uses it about 30% of the time. Some of his long chasing runs down the ground where he catches someone he starts 45m behind are brilliant. He is still one of the quickest players in the team. In my mind he is not a liability to the team, and neither would be Cupido. Hargraves I have questions about.
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

Handy $25K for North. Can't believe they signed him to a 2 yr deal.

Hargraves was confirmed a while ago!

Anyway, I found this part about Jajourja interesting:

The Club has also secured the services of Luke Jarjoura, who played with the Sturt Football Club in 2005/06. Luke approached the football club direct and expressed a desire to play for Port Adelaide and despite approaches from other Clubs he was adamant that Port Adelaide was the club he really wanted to play for. Luke has proven to be a damaging player in the SANFL already and the Club believes he can play an important role in our team in 2007 whilst adding some flexibility with the range of positions he can play.

I thought North sacked him, so not sure why a transfer fee would be payable ?

I liken his depature from Sturt in the same vein as squire leaving North.

No way should JJ be anywhere BUT Sturt. Bad decision by the SFC on that one i reckon. It will come back to bite us on the arse. Hope I am wrong. The club should of at least let Rick evaluate him.

Dunno if you could do that Jimmy, we solely blamed our coach at the time for Squire leaving, I don't think you can blame Rick!

I wouldn't have mind picking him up as he's the sort of player who will thrive in a finals side IMHO, never going to happen though as we don't throw the same sort of money as Port around to players which isn't a bad thing IMHO.

Same deal Wedgie, the club appoints the coach. The NAFC should have stopped Squizzy from leaving if they thought he was worth keeping, but through your coach they made THE call and the rest is history.
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

Fair point, I must admit I was in a minority of North supporters and supported the club in appointing McDermott and I thought he would do a good job.
Oh how wrong I was!

Christ, hard question, I just started quoting percentages but I better not.
It depends, there's a group of hardcore North supporters out there who know what's happened and I'd say a large amount of those would be really pissed off.
But if you did the rounds of a normal North game it'd probably be the other way around.
The non hardcore supporters think Jars is the ants pants.
A few of the hardcore supporters do to but not many and it seems to change each season/happening/event.

I try not to vent my personal feelings on this site about what I think but let's just say Jars not rocking up to the North Junior supporters Pie night tonight was another brick in my anti Jars wall and I don't think its any great secret that myself and a few others on here aren't his biggest fan. Still was a great night run by the club, I took a few pics:

http://www.rocketrooster.com/NAFC/Forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4545

If you gave me the choice, I'd still have Hargs at North and Jars would be down at Alberton (not that they'd have him).
BUT premierships are won through profesionalism and not following the heart and its another good reason why I could never be a board member/administrator/coach.

I wouldn't say a new supporter mate but it'll be similar to 2004 when I went to a few Port games as I regard Ray Ebel as a mate, I also regard Hargs as a mate and will be supporting him. I just hope the draw allows me to go to a few as I wont miss North games ever.

Mind you , if you talk the Port Adelaide Lawn Bowls club into letting me have a practise during the breaks and I might be swayed!

I didnt blame Rick :? I meant it in reference to the way North fans reacted at Squires delisting/sacking which is the way Sturt fans have reacted. That is what I was referring too. Most (if not all) agree that losing JJ could have been avoided and that maybe Rick should have evaluated him. Oh well, shit happens. ports gain
