His overhead marking power has diminished signifacantly over the last 18 months and there is no way he could play CHF. On the lead and lace out he is still dangerous but age and injury toll on his back/hammies and knees over the past seasons has seen him lose a lot of jumping ability and agility on the ground. Hargs missed 6 games this year and played about 4 or 5 carrying injuries. Hargs only played as much as he did this year in the league for North because first Alleway and then Weatherley suffered long term injuries plus Gill missed a number of games.
How Cupido, Waterhouse and Hargraves would go in the same fowd line will be one of the intriguing things come 2007 if it happens?. All 3 of them would hardly be described as having much of a defensive component to their individual (or the team) game plan. I'll take Gill, Alleway and Weatherley (plus one or two others about to be announced by North) ahead of Hargs, Cupido and Waterhouse if given a choice despite friendship loyalties etc.
Waterhouse does have a very good defensive side to his game. The trouble is he uses it about 30% of the time. Some of his long chasing runs down the ground where he catches someone he starts 45m behind are brilliant. He is still one of the quickest players in the team. In my mind he is not a liability to the team, and neither would be Cupido. Hargraves I have questions about.
