Anyone got a correct final score?
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

That's what happens when one team is only interested in the match. This game was kind of similar to the one at Noarlunga last year, and Norwood might be turning out to what South did last year - be a real damaging side while on song.

I should've stayed home and followed the game via this thread as it would've been a lot more entertaining than being there.

Norwood were sensational. Their intensity was so much superior to the Eagles. Their tackling and pressure was relentless and their forward talls took the marks that our forwards kept dropping. They pretty much won every single position on the ground.

The Eagles on the other hand, except for the last 10 minutes of the 1st quarter and most of the final term were terrible. The margin looks a lot more respectable than it really felt at the game as we were out of the contest from the 2nd quarter onwards. 100+ points would have been more appropriate. I couldn't really say we had any best players today. Vince was probably most consistent. Dabrowski, Jarrad and Cooper were ok. I still doubt any of our players came out on top though.

That was the worst we've played since the last half on ANZAC Day. The Eagles had been building, so I thought, some momentum and looking at the fixtures, this game was a must (and expected) win because in the next three weeks we have North at Prospect, Central at Elizabeth and Port at Alberton.

What can Fuller do to get the team up again? Their is plenty of young talent in the team, but some appear to be playing for themselves. I doubt Port Power coaches only look at the stats. The team this year also appears to be full of front runners. Why are teams continuously slamming on the goals against us? Why isn't there enough players who are willing to get dirty and make a difference when the chips are down. Don't leave it up to Powell and Cooper every time.

From what I've seen this year we are capable of playing very good football. But, success will not happen unless every player is accountable, honest and hard at every contest. The Eagles at least showed some good signs in the last quarter and that will be either proven to be a show of character or a show of weakness depending on how they come out to play against North next week.

back to the 70's theme in a 'west torrens' v norwood match & the result would be that of a game from the 70's with these two sides
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Well done Legs, thoroughly deserved victory. Controlled the game from the get go and with exception of a 10 minute period late in the 1st and another 10 minutes in the last where the Eagles looked good the Legs dominated. 2nd Rate effort overall and no Eagles supporter should be happy with that at all.

Easily Norwood's most complete performance since 2002. Well done to all involved and huge thanks to the genius that recruited McGuiness to our club. IMHO he's not that far behind Callinan in terms of impact on the competition.

COACHES' COMMENTS

LEAGUE

As I reported after the South game, it is often harder to stay at the top than to get there and we are having trouble coming to terms with consistency this year. Our consistency has been good over the past eight or so years and we have had a playing group that has been able to produce most weeks, but we have had some roller coaster performances this season.

Before I talk about our game specifically I would like to acknowledge the effort of Norwood. We have recognised that over the past month they have played a very direct, more aggressive, effective type of game and we went in fully aware of their capabilities. They have a good mix of youth and experience, a good blend of tall marking players as well as hard running midfielders and defenders and are in good form. We believe Norwood are a genuine finals and maybe premiership team.

Our preparation had nothing to do with complacency. A more determined and committed team beat us. We didn’t have enough contributors around the contests and just weren’t tough enough in the 50/50s. Our use of the ball going forward wasn’t great but our forwards didn’t make enough of the opportunities that they were presented with either. Our backline was under a bit of pressure too but we have shown more resilience there in the past as well. Overall you would have to say we were beaten pretty soundly all over the ground. Only Bernie Vince, Matt Cooper and to a lesser extent Dale Symmons and Brad Dabrowski showed enough resistance.

Now we prepare for North Adelaide.
