Eagles look the team to beat in 2006

All discussions to do with the SANFL

So here I am, back again. Talking up the Eags still. Just recently made a trip to the club and seen the lads go through their pre-season paces and might I say allthough it's early the mighty Eags are already looking bloody brilliant. The young lad Jackson Bolton is looking like a gun signing. Speaking to big linds and all the current group are impressed with all the recruits but Jackson inparticular. He looks like another fine midfielder amongst our already overflowing stocks. Looking forward to round 1 and our trip to Prospect. Can't wait to see my Eags wipe the smug looks of those faces of all you Rooter fans. Round 1 Bring it on!!! 8)

Ronnie wrote:In my humble and inadequate opinion the Eagles have missed the boat.
On paper they have had the best side talent wise running around for a while, but for them they haven't quite managed to overcome Central's when it really counts.
Now i'm not so sure, but if they are mentally tough enough you never know, but you can't keep giving up chances without a let down at some stage.

Don't know how you can say that Ronnie. Centrals are clearly the best, on the field, off the field, on paper and in ochre paintings on cave walls (for the Port fans).

I thought it was time to re-ignite this debate as the season is drawing closer and I'm excited about our first game at Prospect. North are in good form and the mighty Eags look good as well. I know we've only played South as yet but the signs are promising. Next up Centrals at Elizabeth and then our last trial should be a walk in the park back at theby against the gay bays, probably not the most ideal last game in the lead-up to the start of a new season but it should be good as a confidence boost if nothing more. In short I can't wait for round 1 at Prosy, Bring it on. GO YOU MIGHTY EAGLES!!!!!

Theres no doubt that it will be a good game. But i feel that North and Centrals are the teams to beat with the Eagles looking dangerous in proabably third spot.

At this stage I would take that stan would prefer eagles to finish Top and not play Centrals in the first final!!
I still think its to early to predict anything otherwise south would be favourites for the spoon after losing to a team with so many topline players out .

I don't know about this "team to beat" tag. Central has been the team to beat over the past 5 years. Norwood have beaten them several times over this period and never won the flag :)
