The Gut Feeling Top 5

Postby lesthemechanic » Sun Sep 02, 2007 10:07 am

Ok, so rate the top 5 teams on how you have seen them perform against your team/against others.
No stats or BS to cloud it, just your feeling & their form.
Here's mine
Eagles
Glenelg
Centrals
North
Sturt
would have had Sturt and North = 4th before yesterday , but their pounding of West lifts them a rung.

Glenelg
Central
North
Sturt
Eagles

As you asked for its how you've seen these teams and how they've performed against your club. Ive gone on gut feeling and initial thoughts but backed it up with maths.

My justification:

1) Glenelg, North haven't beaten them, haven't even got close, total difference in games via North +83 pts (2 matches)
2) Central beaten comfortably last time total diff: +42 (3 matches)
3) North
4) Sturt -19 (2 matches)
5) Eagles -25 (2 matches)

I went close to putting Glenelg top, but the Eagles just have it over us....can't ever beat them . ( unless it's a trial game, & according to Jars - our last win for the year )

I'm confident we can match up OK on all teams except the Bays seem to have it over us at the moment.

No team really worries but I still predict a Central v Glenelg Grand Final.

Surely the Bays' lack of finals experience will be a factor?

Only Paul Sherwood (and maybe Ben Moore?) have played in a losing finals team for the Bays.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

Centrals.
Have shown how good they are over a whole season. Very difficult for any team to go all year without a loss, and will expected to be there or thereabouts come GF time.
Eagles.
After a shakey start have got it together and are showing the kind of form that won a GF last year. Might fear North if any team at all.
Glenelg.
After an even shakier start are full of confidence, and must be confident of getting past the Elim final. Have the wood on North this year and after yesterdays demolition of Sturt (despite 5 late unanswered goals) will have no fears of the DB's either.
North.
Have the quality to beat anyone but are just too hot and cold. Will need to play 3 consistent games in a row to threaten, and that hasn't happened yet this year.
Sturt
Had a great season but are nowe being found out. One game left to show the league they are not just there to make the numbers up, but confidence must be ebbing away.

Eagles seem to be coming into fine form before the finals...
Centrals will be in the GF, IMO against the Eagles
Glenelg will finish third, after a great second half of the year..
North fourth, too hot and cold for mine...
Sturt fifth...

Lets not kid ourselves people, one team is going to finish (as a minimum) five games ahead of the competition.

They're not unbeatable but gee one of four other sides is going to have to play out of their skins to beat them as two sides have shown this year.

For my lot given our last five weeks, I'm going to be dissappointed if we don't make it through until the last weekend in September.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

central
wwt
glenelg
north
sturt

thats how i see the finishing order, i think north WILL BEAT sturt because sturt will have too many players out & north are as close to full strength as possible & this weeks game will decide whether we can beat wwt down the track as they definately do have the wood on us
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

The Preliminary Final?

Yep, can't see us making the AFL GF

BAsed on the last five weeks my final 5 is the same as Baymans   and for teh same reasons.   ...

Sturt unfortunately for them are being hit by injuries to key players
North are capable of going deep into September but their game plan is better suited to minor round matches rather than finals footy.

Centrals and Eags are the standouts for mine with Centrals a step above the eagles.

Out of Sturt, North and my lot anyone one of them could be out in straight sets or make the GF depends on what game they bring to the finals. What I say there is that based on our last two games against both Sturt and North I believe we have their measure but if we take either of them lightly we will lose

Well as the doggies have 2 chances to get a GF berth and even if you rate them 50/50 in each game thay are still 75% probable of being there on GF.

After that the Wiggles seem to have been getting better every week. That would be good we owe them!

After that the bays are the form side but unless they fluke a top 3 possie can't see them playing in a GF.

Norf and $turt are about even. If one of them can get the double chance they are a darkie otherwise its back to the future
We used to be good :-(
