Richard Williams retired?

Postby scott » Mon Oct 08, 2007 10:25 am

Don't want to read too much into it but when the umpires were leaving the arena yesterday, he walked about five metres ahead of the rest of them (don't they usually walk together?), had the ball in his hands and did a small wave to either someone in the crowd, or the crowd itself.

Anyone know anything about it?

Would be a shame as I rate him the best umpire in the SANFL.

Good to see the umpires catch up with the North players at the Casino too, had a ball chatting to them, great blokes.

I agree. It was one of Williams' better performances yesterday. One of the best umpiring efforts by all the umps this year yesterday.

Fantastic Umpire who has been in charge of both of the Eagles Premierships.
Shows that he must be getting close to retirement!!

He's not retiring (at least one more year to go), the wave was to his son who had waved to him.
