From the South Adelaide Football Club website (
http://www.safc.com.au):
The South Adelaide FC is thrilled to announce that Michael Taylor will join the Panthers as Assistant Coach in 2008.
Taylor, who has had an extensive involvement in both AFL/VFL football and the SANFL is regarded as South Adelaide’s second coup of the off-season after recently announcing the appointment of John Cahill as senior coach.
Taylor’s impressive football background includes almost 300 games at Norwood where he was a premiership captain. He had playing and coaching roles with the Collingwood FC, was an assistant coach at the Adelaide Crows for five years and was senior coach at West Adelaide FC for five years.
"The ability to work along side John Cahill has been a major player in my decision to join South. I really do see the Club as being untapped in many ways and I am extremely excited at the direction it is now taking," Taylor said.
Former North Adelaide player and junior coach David Tiller has been re-appointed for a second season as Panthers under 17’s coach. All another coaching appointments will be announced in coming weeks.

Great work South!
The sign of someone with confidence in themselves and where they want to go is the quality of support they recruit. Jack is showing he isn't afraid to be challenged in the coaches box and that's a healthy sign.

I was talking to a high profile South person who has been frustrated over the last year or so but now can see some real light at the end of the tunnel. He told me some very interesting things including much about certain players and why some are leaving.
My spin on it was that South are really biting the bullet this time and serious about a big culture change. They are going well off field (except for a couple of people they could get rid themselves of but they is a whole new story), they have a very good CEO and Marketing Manager, good expansion plans and now they look like seriously trying to fix on field stuff without this time around waving big cheques at the wrong sort of players.
Good luck to South - no one could begrudge them or their loyal supporters a climb into regular years of success - how ever that may be measured but they appear on track and hopefully they reamain patient whilst it happens because it may take sometime.

Id be interested to hear from West Adelaide people what their opinions were concerning Taylors ability as a coach.
A few years back Norwood didnt even grant him an interview for their job and people involved with the Crows didnt rate him too highly during his stint with them.

Kingo Taylor is a highly regarded football person by those who count and who know, of that there is no doubt. Ex-drebin, would be very interested in "that's another story" comment, always felt there is just a small little group who cause all the drama at South, the sooner they are outed for this the better, name names and hang em high.
Also understand that the stories a mass player leavings are greatly overstated, in fact there is a large number who a really looking forward to both the education and enjoyment in their footy that the 2 new coaches are about to introduce, especially to the younger group of which the club has many. At last something to look forward to instead of focusing on the past.

I was only referring to one or two based on what I have been told. It seems that some of the other problem people at Board and thereabouts have gone which you well know.

Two men of strong character. Something South sorely needed.
Southee have you applied for your new drivers license yet? (Class: Bandwagon)
I reckon South are going to have one to rival Sturt's in the early stages of 08!

I've still seen nothing like the bandwagon in early 2005(?) when South beat the dogs at Carlunga... We had Flem-trains and all sorts dominating the www.

clark was told by jack he was not a required player.or so i was told today. Forgotten who Mcglone was talking with .And Dale Ellis is supposed to be heading to Norwood.
And when I said to my source about jack having no players was politely told he told them all to go.
