CENTRAL District general manager Kris Grant believes the naming of SANFL grounds will be more prevalent after his club announced a new naming rights deal with Hamra Homes.

After finance company NAP relinquished its sponsorship, Grant revealed the club's home ground would be known as the Hamra Homes Oval for five years.

The name change comes after Norwood unveiled Coopers Stadium as its new name for The Parade this season. Added to West Adelaide's existing agreement with Broadspectrum, it appears the trend is spreading. "With Westies, Norwood and us, I would imagine other clubs would be looking to do the same," Grant said. "Having the extra sponsorship (for naming rights) helps in improving all of the facilities at the Hamra Homes Oval."

Negotiations between the Bulldogs and Glenelg are continuing over the services of talented wingman Troy Butcher. The Tigers have set a transfer fee and now Grant will consult with his finance committee to see if a deal can be made.

I pray that North Adelaide never sell the naming rights to Prospect.... would've understood if it had been done in the dark days, but not now.

But we're still known as the North Adelaide Roosters, & we play our homegames at Prospect Oval- what has been sacrificed?

What would make Ham Oval a great place to visit is if the city of Playford upgraded the Elizabeth train station. Perhaps upgrade the lighting and security, and the lighting between the station and the ground, it may look a bit more welcoming for the night fixtures.

What's in a name anyway?

Unless it's a classic like Gary Frangalas.
