Mock SANFL Mini Draft

[NFC]

Cmon folks have a crack!

1. West: Taylor Walker

Walker’s a tall forward which West have a shortage of. They brought in a few midfielders/defenders but lack forwards and Galea is gone.

2. South: Andy Otten

Midfielders Clarke, McGlone and Wright have all departed so expect South to snap up Otten, a 191cm midfielder who racks up big possession counts.

3. Norwood: Matthew Lobbe

Lobbe is a tall forward/ruckman and with 3 ruckmen already departed Lobbe could slot straight into the team. Still very slight so you would assume he’ll spend 2 years in the SANFL which is to Norwood’s advantage.

4. Port: Myke Cook

Cook’s a quick, skilled midfielder/forward who should fit in well with the Magpies.

5. Glenelg: Tony Armstrong

Glenelg are probably a tad light-on for defenders and Armstrong is a medium defender who is said to have great foot skills.

6. Sturt: Jarrhan Jacky

With Chambers are Perrie up forward, they’ll need a small crumbing forward and Jacky fits the bill.

7. Eagles: Mitchell Farmer

Farmer’s a solid player in all aspects and is a great leader. The Eagles, who will like his versatility, seem like the perfect SANFL club for him.

8. North: Brad Moran

Unsure whether he’ll play much SANFL next year but if so North will like his versatility and ability to play down back. Moran is one who could go anywhere in this draft, depends on whether clubs will risk doing "a Rodan" like Norwood did.

9. Central: Patrick Dangerfield

Dangerfield could go anywhere in the draft order but you would expect clubs to stay away considering he’s not in SA next year. Centrals don’t have much time for young AFL listed players and Dangerfield will only be available for a few reserves games in 2008 which will suit the Dogs perfectly.

10. West: Aaron Kite

The only guy left (at this stage) and West could do with a young utility like Kite who will need time to develop as he is extremely slight.


* Rookie draft to come which will probably enable a few clubs to have 2 draft selections.

* That was tough work, mainly because logic can completely go out the window as it did 2 years back when West went with rookie selection Bonaddio with the first pick.

* I'm assuming Motlop will go to North, if not, I will need to adjust.

Good question, pretty sure you can. I thought I read something a few years back about North wanting to pass but when it came to their pick there was someone left who they wanted, so they thought why not draft him?

Think thats the 64 dollar question, I have asked alot about this and never been given a decisive answer, IMHO I believe you could say No to participating, especially with this lad who has no intention to coming to Adelaide next year

I actually rekon Jacky looks like the best pick up for the Crows - so id be happy if he got through to Sturt in the Mini Draft !!!

Why would you give hima league game if he hasnt been part of the senior group?

If he was at the Bay Id give him a u/19 game at best...he either fully commits or can piss off

I didn't say I don't like Douggie playing for us, BUT I'd prefer for Glenelg to play a kid with a bit of talent from the Ressies.
I'm just not a fan of the AFL based teams using the SANFL competition as a training, game time, rehab centre.

Finn, why would North take Dangerfield. You may as well pass if hes not going to be here.
Why wouldnt Taylor Walker go 1 or 2. Hes only 17 and probably wont play any [or much] AFL and would be a plus for any forward line.
Apparently he would've gone 1st round in the draft if the Crows hadnt stitched him up.

so we do not know how good a player is at the moment
so the person last on everybodys list could be the best
im happy we should get two picks
