Myself, i see us slipping a bit if we dont get who we want or our youngsters dont step up...an injury free year would help too ;)

Definitely time for a couple of the younger blokes to take the next step, it seems like the majority of our class is aging or retiring. With an influx of youth we can be good enough to go the whole way. I hope our new spending money can help push us along.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Without Oli and probably Feasty we need some big men fast. It will be easier to tell once some of the doubtfuls play their hands (Begley, Smith, Squiz, Feast...)

I've learnt over the last few years to never write Sturt off. They don't have the $$$ of other clubs but tend to recruit very smartly and Sticks is a top coach.
Having said that with Feast and Oliver gone they will have to recruit at least one quality big man to see September action again IMHO.

We're in dyer need of big men first, as zipzap said if we lose both Oli and Feasty it's a big priority. This year, to me, Sturt showed quite a bit of heart, by quite a few we were tipped to finish lower down the ladder, but still managed to sneak into the finals again.

As Wedgie said, it's hard to write us off, especially with the quality that still remains in our side, and with Chambo's "off" season this year, he'll look to make up for it with the next. I'd like to see us wrap up some key position forward players, as so many times this year we were strong in the back half, and had no one down forward to take the grab, besides Chambo and Coad (who were pretty inconisistant at times). I'd really love another crumber, who can pick up the leftovers.

I can see much more improvement coming from Jarjoura, and perhaps even more from Colreavy who was fantastic in his debut year for us.

Anyway, I still reckon we'll be up there, 5th.

For the simple reason that none of the teams below Sturt (with the possible exception of Norwood) are a remote threat to make the finals.

Exactly right and my thoughts.

Norwood IMO are the only ones who threaten to take 5th from us.

Its a good point that Psuedo makes, who's going to replace them?
Bays and South are gone.
Norwood are an unknown quality as are West to a degree.

Interesting times but Top 4 looks set similar to this year.

I think Port is a problem to predict , a big improvement after last year, but without the continuity of Jack Cahill's coaching. Who knows. Tim. G is still an unknown quantity, but I'm sure Magpies supporters are confident.

Your opinions on where Sturt are at

Postby sturtpeter » Mon Nov 07, 2005 3:14 pm

Colreavy was a boom recruit for us last season and he can only improve. Jarjoura was brilliant at stages yet terribly undisciplined too.

His antics in the first Norwood game at Unley and in the last quarter at the Bay were almost child like. If he can mature he can be a match winner for us on his day.

We need a Mobile Ruckman badly and a 50 goal forward because Chambers was far too inconsistent.

Having said this I predict we can finish 3rd behind North and the Doggies.

Atkinson will add a new flair to our Reserves' side.

Chambers has it but the delivery to him this year was often very poor
and yeh, Colreavy outstanding and Jarjoura can only improve (his antics at the Bay were quite amusing considering we were well in front at that stage and it did not have any impact on the result)

good call on the ruckman SP, with Oli gone and Feasty generally a week to week proposition we could be in trouble
Bowen can ruck and has shown promise so he might be a go and DeLuca has definitely improved since he first came to us at the start of last year
