KEY SANFL EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENT
The SANFL is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Rob Nelson to the key executive position of General Manager – Strategy and Partnerships.
Reporting to SANFL Executive Commissioner Leigh Whicker, this newly created position will be responsible for:
• Facilitating the preparation of the SANFL’s Strategic Plan
• Development of high level relationships within the public sector
• Procurement of funding for state wide facility projects
• Project management of long-term community infrastructure projects for the SANFL and Affiliated
League Clubs
• The enhancement of relationships with SANFL clubs and the SA based AFL clubs
SANFL Executive Commissioner Leigh Whicker highlighted Rob’s considerable sports management experience at executive level. “Rob has worked across a wide range of sports including Surf Life Saving, Ironman, Cycling, Soccer, Gymnastics, Basketball and Rugby. In his most recent role as CEO of SA Rugby Union, Rob was the key driver in securing a round of the prestigious IRB World 7 Series for Adelaide and developed strong networks within the public sector. Combined with his earlier experiences
as Group Manager – Marketing & Commercial for Australian Major Events / SA Tourism Commission and a successful three year management role with the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, Rob brings valuable skills and experience to our executive team at the SANFL”.
Rob will commence with the SANFL on Monday 11 February 2008.
