Josh Cubillo explores his football options

Taken from http://www.nafc.com.au

In what is very disappointing news to all at North Adelaide, Josh Cubillo is exploring all options for his football career. Josh began at North Adelaide in 2005 as a seventeen year old originating from Darwin, played in the U/17s, U/19s, Reserves and has now completed 16 senior matches. Importantly he was also part of our Grand Final team in 2007 and is an integral part of our planning for 2008.

Andrew Jarman has shown great confidence in the young man in selecting him at senior level for high pressure games. It was expected that Josh's career would continue to flourish in the environment at our Club.Given the above it could hardly be argued that the young man was deprived of opportunity

However, it appears that this will not be the case, as Josh's legal representation has advised the Club that they have been instructed to 'test' the market at other SANFL Clubs. We interpret this to mean that he is sourcing the best offer available.Furthermore, his legal representation has instructed the Club not to make direct contact with Josh.

North Adelaide Football Club is proud of the role it has played in the football development for many of our young players in recent years, one of which is Josh Cubillo. To our supporters we can assure you that the Club has a sense of commitment and fairness to all our players based on performance, potential age and loyalty.

Sounds disappointing for North...

I hope all other clubs tell him to take his greedy ways elsewhere.

Agree smac, who wants a player of his character. (especially not SA after recent years!!)

Fair chance it might be "left-right-out" this season.

I hope Glenelg sound out his management, I had a bit to do with Josh in Darwin, great kid from a great family.

Agree its disappointing for North, don't agree with your 2nd comment.
Id assume there's a bit more between the lines although I would hope that North have done everything in their power to hang onto him as he's a key player.
Any other club should jump at him, great player.
I still remember the first final against the Dogs when the play was in North's forward line (yes, a rarity), the game was all but lost and Josh despite being the youngest defender was the only one giving his immediate opponent no room and a bit of stick like defenders should.
If he does move on HUGE loss for North and BIG gain for someone else.
Only thing that would deter other clubs is I'd say Josh would jump at the chance to play with the NT in 09 so it might only be a 1 year contract.

Is this simply a case of the "Salary Cap" biting?

Fair enough mate, there may be more to it but incredibly unusual for a player to seek alternatives at this stage, particularly to a club that has given him so much opportunity.

On the surface, looks like sh!t, smells like sh!t... Fair chance it really is sh!t.

Might be, I think North are very limited as they lost some class players but I'd guess the only one in the top bracket of payment was Dean Howard so when all 4 very good players left it didn't open up that much of the salary cap.
I know North would kill for another forward and ruckman and there's no way they'd let a Key Backman like Josh go as we're short there too but I think they're hamstrung.
We'll have a great mid field in 08, elsewhere is looking a bit suspect though.

Seems like Sturt have the front running to get Josh on board, good luck to them, he'd be a great player for any club IMHO.
Crikey, Im losing track of the players I call my favourite get shafted from the club. No wonder Im not a Jarman fan.

Dated tomorrow!

Did NAFC breach their own press release imbargo?

Yeah, that's been happening on the official site ever since it started, I quite often noticed Barrie's articles were dated for the following day, I reckon its just because they wanted to lay claim to giving out info before it hit the Roost.
They're quite often ahead of themselves though, just look at the Tshirts on sale prior to the GF!
