3000 Centrals and Sturt supporters will choose to be watching the Power instead of their SANFL side?

True local people will have the chance to get to Elizabeth but I would have thought the SANFL would have wanted to showcase this game on a Friday night rather than a Saturday given attendance figures for previous Friday evening fixtures at Norwood and Adelaide Ovals

Not really, I think an outer suburb would suit Saturday night a lot better. If you worked in the Southern suburbs or lived south of town like a lot of Sturt fans would I imagine Friday night would be a write off, trying to negotiate horrendous traffic up Main North Rd.
Saturday Night on the other hand gives people a lot more time to get out there, better traffic, etc and I think Saturday night will suit the locals up there more too, especially those in the Barossa.
Friday night in town or at Norwood is a different kettle of fish.

Jimmy wrote:Wedgie, good points, but they are moot if its clashing with a power game due to the points i raised in my previous post.
And i hate the fact that the power game could influence the amt of the crowd at the local game.

I honestly don't see how a Power crowd would impact on the game, I know they only have an impact on North games when we play Port but that hasn't happened for a long time.
Only the Magpies have to worry about not clashing with Power games, pretty simple really.
If you want SANFL games to avoid AFL games you'll have to have them played Monday to Thursday.
You might miss out on a dozen or 2 having it on the Saturday night but you'll easily pick up over 1000 wouldn't make it on a Friday.
Full marks for the programming, smart IMHO. I don't think 2 many Central fans at Elizabeth will think, hmm, lets go watch a crap side in the AFL about an hours drive away when we have our pride and joy playing down the road who are the reigning premiers.
You'll probably get bugerrall Sturt fans going out there, maybe a few more than normal because its Rd 1, but nothing's new there.
I really don't see the issue.

Plus, we play our best footy under lights!
