I'll be at the ground (I think) for the underage training, that's if we've moved back by then.

CD - does an Eagles membership still get you 10% discount at Mile End Harvey Normans?

If I get an eagles membership before I buy my TV, with the discount factored in, i'd come out way ahead!

Thanks for the update CD, albeit information we already know. We supporters crave for more information on the playing group, progress of promising juniors and new players to the group. It would be nice to get this information so people start talking about our club...get existing members excited and they just might be able to attract new members to the club.

CD - thought the WWTFC had died, very little info. coming out and what has surfaced (like raffle winners) is insignificant. Give us the diehard supporters some gutsy relevant info. to stir the football passions. What about a list of players for the 2006 season, I believe there a many new faces. The web site is deplorable, no info. and not updated, this is a disgraceful way to treat supporters. Come on CD what about kicking some arse at Oval Avenue. Surely an aggressive preseason promoting the club is required.

After reading this, all I can say is i'm lining up to volunteer my help to the club. Nothing better than Johnny Blaze on the internet complaining about other people's hard work.

Thank you Ferrett, you have hit the nail right on the head. Whilst we have a terrific club the lack of information about our pre-season and prospects for the coming season is disturbing. Unfortunately most other SANFL clubs go into hiding as well which does nothing for the season build up. CD, we look forward to your postings but give us some "footy" information, not stuff that we members already know. Ferrett's comments are always quite accurate and she must be a little frustrated about our outlook for 2006.

I agree with Jackal and Ferret to a certain extent. It would be great to have more information on the squad during the off-season. However, us Eagle supporters can't really complain. The communication we receive during the season is fantastic, with weekly match reports and the coach report as well as team line ups (although they never line up like that) all displayed on the website and sent out via email in good time.

Hopefully those wanting info have checked their emails as of 6:00pm yesterday when a report re the internal trial was sent out.

If not a member go to the web site to join up so you dont miss out - as said above a free service for members - editted summary follows - a full version on another thread.

Internal Trial
The Eagles played an internal trial at Thebarton Oval this morning (Sat 4/3/06) in very warm conditions as their first competitive hit out of the new season. It was a great chance for Ron Fuller and the coaches to see all the hard work of the summer come together under match conditions. A blue Eagles outfit matched up against the white Barry Stoodley Pty Ltd unit.

The match although the score suggests a one sided affair was very competitive and a good basis to start the season from. In particular the skill level and intensity was at a high level early on. As the game progressed in the hot conditions they started to take effect and at times the skill level and intensity dropped slightly. As a whole the coaching staff walked away happy and with no major injuries can look forward to next week when things will step up again against South Adelaide at Noarlunga.

Blue - 18.15.123 d White 8.4.52

Best Players
Blue Team - Leigh Treeby, Jason Earl, Travis Oakley, Adam Grocke, Ryan Kelly

White Team - Mark McKenzie, Jon Floreani, Matthew Bolton, Brad Coles

Goals
Blue Team - Travis Oakley - 7, Adam Grocke, Jason Earl, Craig Fitzgerald, David Westbrook - 2, Leigh Treeby, Damien Williamson, Matthew Bolton - 1

White Team - Sam Jericho, Matthew Bolton - 2, Brad Moore, Jase Morris, Todd Price, James Stewart - 1

Thought the Eagle draftee Matthew Stokes played quite well from what I saw in last night's NAB cup game for Geelong against the Kangaroos. The interception of a pass across the ground in the third quarter was excellent and despite the fact that he didn't finish it off with a goal, it takes a great ability to read the play to pull that sort of thing off.

Great stuff CD, finally a bit of substance coming out of the eyrie. The three a week emails during the season are excellent and eagerly anticipated but preseason hype, enthusiasm and relevant info. are essential. The internal trial was useful to see what the Eagles had assembled in the off season but the number of players missing through injury was a concern. A very important part of reporting about the preseason would be to include a list of players injured and the length of time they are likely to be out for. Some info. about the following injured players players would be great - Paul Lindsay, Steven Hall, Brett Frewen, Mark Passador, Vinnie Rugolo, Jackson Bolton, Tom Wigley, Ryan Potter, Brad Williams, James Angus, Robert Fiacchi, Matt Cooper, Colbey Blythe, James Vandeleur and Jarrod Petrenko.

Mickyj - Matthew Bolton like many of the other players were changed to the opposing team at half time to look at different combinations and individual match ups. Matthew Bolton is a little dynamo, an excitement machine but his skills and decison making let him down. Don't know if he is league standard, but great to watch.

Thanks Sus - I think you will find Paul Lindsay and Mark Passador have quite bad hamstring injuries, as usual the club will give nothing away. Luke Powell was also missing on Saturday - I assume the shoulder is being given as much time as possible to get right. What I'm really looking for is time frames for the reappearance of the injured. Over the last few years we have seen an injury list that seems to be too long, it always comes to haunt us at finals time.
