Any news on the Eagles trial @ Noarlunga. Just wondering whether any one has some news on the Mighty Eags trial at noarlunga today. Unfortunately I was otherwise unavailable due to cricket commitments so I hope someone can help with some results and a bit of a review.

We won league, south won reserves - check club website or your email report - was sent out an a couple of hours ago - was a good hit out with the eagles holding off a bit of a challenge by the Panthers early in last quarter. South got within a goal but then the Eagles kicked 9 nine goals.

Thanks for the info Wedgie, good to see your old rooster boy Adam Grocke seems to be fitting in well down Eagle Land. Sounds like you had it preety easy against sturt. Should be a good game at prospect in rnd.1. Bring it on!!!

As I'm sure other North fans agree I hope Grocke and Oakley do really well for the Eagles, just not too well in Rd 1.
I wonder if Adam still gets "fined" at his new club for every time he appears in the Harris Scarfe catalogue?
Top lad.
Both left to try and play footy at the top level with virtually no chance at North and I'm sure they'll both have a point to prove, if Adam can hit the form he had 3 years ago he should be a good pickup for the Eagles. Oakley is a great mark but a tad small for FF but the Eagles have worked nicely in the past with full forwards of a similar height.

They are fitting in ver nicely at the current time. I personally hope that both have careed best games against your mob at prospect and we win by plenty. Oakley has the potential to be a decent full forward for us something we have been craving for years. That is if fuller does'nt stuff things up for him by putting him all over the ground like he has with a full forward we recruited from box hill. Maybe you could enlighten me a little more on him and the type of player he is.

Pretty well summed up before, he's a bloke who can really only play one position in full forward but would only be about 6 foot if not a tad smaller.
Really good grab for his height, good ressies FF but when he got his occasional chance for us in the league he was obviously moved to a pocket or HFF and struggled.
Left halfway through last year when he realised he wouldn't be playing League again.
Here's a pic of a nice mark he took in front of Ray Ebel at Prossie las year:

Thanks for the info wedgie. Although only a couple of trials under his belt at the Eags, he looks as though he could be very handy. It will be interesting to see how he stands up against the like of North, Central and Port. Bigger, harder bodies that enjoy hitting you harder.

EAGLES played well yesterday even with 10 or so players out ,GROCKE is 100 times better than ellis and so is DABROWSKI a far better player than ohara, he can kick mark and is heaps better around the ground

first quarter: Eagles 7.2 to South 2.2
half time: Eagles 11.6 to South 4.6
three quarter: Eagles 14.6 to South 10.12
final: Eagles 23.9 to South 13.16

Also some best players in the ressies - my opinion - Pedersen, Bolton, Hart, Sayers, Fitzgerald

Given the conditions was a good hit out - ressies played 6 20 minute quarters - lots of rotations in both games - some played a quarter or so in the ressies and also had a quarter or so in the league - seemed to work well as all got a decent rest during the day.

Wouldnt be that hard to be better than Ellis, wasnt there a game where he needed to almost have a punch up with Fuller to get a fire in his belly .
Did cupido paly for south ?
DABROWSKI you could say has come home ,seeing his dad was a great Torrens player in the 70's
Looking better for us this year than I thought .

South also rotating a lot of the time - challenged more in second half than first - were only down by 6 points early in last quarter - then Eagles kicked 9 goals. Cupido played and did a few good things - will be an asset for the Panthers I reckon.

did the league do the same as the reserves with 6 20 minute quarters? did they start early or at the normal time of 11:35 and 2:20?

Normal times

Didn't finish til after 5pm.
League was normal of 4 by 20 with time on plus the heat break around the 15 minute mark of each quarter.
Reserves were straight 20 minutes no time on.

all those blokes that played yesterday would have been absolutely buggered!!!

why wouldnt they bring the times forward like Port and Glenelg at Alberton yesterday, surely that would have been in the best interest of player welfare.
