Roosters rocked as Kurzel may miss season

NORTH Adelaide's 62-point trial game win over Sturt on Friday came at a price with highly-rated centreman Nick Kurzel likely to need a knee reconstruction.

Kurzel, who has had two knee reconstructions on the other knee, is suspected to have ruptured the ACL in a routine collision in the first term at The Parade.

Sturt and Power recruit Greg Bentley has concussion after copping a legitimate hit from Steven Koops. Sturt trailed for most of the night but kicked three unanswered goals in the second quarter.

The EAGLES' Adam Spencer was reported for allegedly intentionally tripping South Adelaide's Alwyn Davey late in the trial at Noarlunga.

The Eagles won by 53 points.
South trailed by 50 points in the first quarter but kicked 6.6 in the third and drew to within six points early in the last term. South had 29 scoring shots to 32 but was wasteful in front of goal.

A desperate NORWOOD held off fast-finishing Central District at The Parade on Saturday night to keep its unblemished trial form in tact with a 13-point win. Norwood, which beat the Magpies last week, hit back after Central levelled the scores midway through the final quarter.

It was the first game back from Essendon for Central's Magarey Medallist Paul Thomas, while rookie Reece Francis impressed in attack.

A five-goal third quarter carried PORT ADELAIDE Magpies to a 26-point win over Glenelg at Alberton.

The Tigers took a two-goal lead in the second quarter after kicking four in a hurry. Port's Magarey Medallist Jeremy Clayton, who ruptured his spleen in the qualifying final last year, pulled up well.

Good to see some sort of coverage/write up - they even got the scores right even though his quote of Sturt kicking 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd quarter was wrong - maybe that is why there was no 1/4 by 1/4 scores from the North/Sturt trial.
