I voted Yes but I want footy at Thebby and Wayville.
Sturt should move to Wayville, they could set up a great base there with ample parking and great facilities in place, of course a lot of work would need to be done there but Ive always thought it would be an ideal SANFL ground if treated right.

I don't think Kensington has quite the same infrastructure, parking and stands as Wayville but its another thing I'd love to see or at the very least soccer played there, used to be awesome watching Adelaide City play there in the 80s and 70s drawing big crowds at the same time of the year footy was played! :D

My thoughts are that the surroundings are too big for SANFL as per Noarlunga & Woodville, plus the trotting track is still there so you are further from the action.

Wedgie , I know Sturt gave it some thought a few years back and it could be an opportunity to start from scratch and get facilities up to scratch but that would be at the detriment to atmosphere which I feel is really important to increase crowds. (EG South & cars.)

I disagree, to make Wayville an SANFL oval they'd have to get rid of the trotting track and make the oval bigger thus bringing the fans closer to the action.

Yeah , no doubt you have to remove the trotting track . Im not convinced though. But it has been a while since I saw it so maybe its not that big?? Still prefer Sturt at Unley ideally.

As a neutral venue, maybe. But there is no way I want Sturt leaving Unley. I reckon the council would dismantle the stands if we left again, give them half a chance and they will make it impossible for us to ever return.
Unley is a monument to great football, it is drenched in tradition and is a symbol of our survival as a club. That it is a park for during weekdays is a testament to the mistake of ever leaving there, so anybody who wants to run the oval down needs to remember that it was leaving that screwed it up in the first place.
A definite "no" to Wayville (or any other oval) whenever the discussion includes the Blues moving from Unley. Just to be clear.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

It'd be a good spot for Footy.

It'd be a good spot to build a new Stadium too...

Plenty of room, carparking, trams, trains, walk to the city...
The joy of being on the hill drinking beer cannot be understated

isnt it just a dust bowl with a speedway track around it be better off putting goal posts in the parklands. No way should Sturt ever leave Unley ever again tried it with a move to Adelaide and we did so well there what a collection of spoons we have.

I see little point in games at Wayville, would need a hell of alot of improvement. Would need to instill changerooms, coaches boxes, and a scoreboard. The only thing going for it are it's lights.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. The general idea was actually for West to shift three home games there, including the final home match of 2009, coinciding all games with an event already on at the Showgrounds - for example, a Motor Show, Home Expo or in the case of the last 2009 match, the opening night of the Royal Show. The idea was for West - or any club wishing to take the opportunity - to take their brand to a captive audience already at the ground, with a strong emphasis on the younger, family crowd. There were some suggestions as to how it would work with memberships etc also.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

Play matches at Wayville?
When are Menindie, Kenilworth and Gawler coming back into the comp?

As a person steeped in the history and traditions of our game, I've often walked into the oval at Wayville and imagined how it would have been when footy was played there all those years ago. I've always considered it to be a venue more than adequate for league standards. Also, from a purely nostalgic view, I'd love to see some footy played at Wayville.
