Jack?
Oatey? I think he'd need a miracle if he's going to resurrect himself to coach Sturt to win against the Roosters on the same day we are playing the Eagles!
Jack

On the face of it ,you would think that South will struggle, after some pretty inconsistent footy so far this year. Our best is ok but our worst is diabolical.I like many other Southies cant wait to see how Archard has settled in at Prospect. He was lightening quick when at his best with the Panthers. Hopefully for his sake he hasnt lost any of his speed because he's going to need every bit of it this week.

Important game. A win will put us 5pts clear of 6th spot. A loss and we're right back in the middle of the pack.
Poor record against North in recent years. Dont think we've beaten them since mid 2005. We generally play pretty well at Prospect though.
Yes b+w, will be interesting to see how Archard goes.
What's Clarke up to? Still injured?

Will be interesting to see the North line up this week. imHo Stewart is getting better every game, expect to see Matty Wright keep his place and possibly / probably / maybe, Kingsley Walker will keep his place.
Wouild expect to see either / or both Grose and Delvins to step up and we have a few good kids pushing for a place so the pressure is on the likes of Ryswyk, Kreig, Wintle, Brett White.
Expect Archard to start as an on baller, but after a good start in Rnd 1, imHo not shown too much since. Maybe Rnd 6 will be his time.
North have some big outs, Ward, Clarke, Motlop and Ladhams

Played an absolute blinder in Rd 1 V the Eagles, was very quiet V Sturt (wasn't alone there), showed some glimpses of form against Port, but overall very quiet, started to look a bit better on Friday, reckon he's ready to burn against South this week.

Yep still recovering from injury, about 1-2 weeks away from a run in the 2's.

If I were a selector I think I would go with this line-up, back them in and leave them in their best positions for at least 2 quarters. I have never seen so many playeres get thrown around as I have so far this year and after only about 10 minutes of play each quarter! Time to settle the side and back them in:
FF: Walker D White Wright
HF: Younie Alleway Armstrong
CE: Lonie Allan Ryswyk
HB: Sporn Schubert Ivens
FB: Delvins McIntyre Grose
RU: O'Hara O'Brien Archard
IC: Stewart Stribling Cunningham
In: Armstrong/Delvins/Grose/Stribling
Out: Wintle/B. White/Krieg/Brown
It was line ball between Armstrong and Motlop (who must be close).
No room for sentiment re playing the Capt and Vice Capt on past reputation. We need to play in form committed players with leg speed who can kick over 40 metres all game - not one kick per week! The good thing is that if we do stay in touch over the next few weeks we still have a few big in's that can boost the side: Ladhams/Clarke/Motlop/Ward/Gill plus hopefully the 2 of 4 I listed as out's (Wintle/B. White) finding something in the Ressies re fitness, leg speed and form so they can press again for selection into the league 21.
It's time North to bite the bullet and see if we have any pride, heart, guts and desire to remain a top 3 dside this year???

Drebin, Wintle and White may find fitness etc in the B's but unless they find a Genie in a bottle they cant increase "leg speed" at their age.

South have been getting some great odds this year. Undoubtedly North will go into the game favourites but a small wager on south could prove very profitable.

While plenty of people at south were happy to see many who left the club leave at the end of 07, there are plenty who are still livid re Archard leaving. The club busted its backside getting him over here, getting him several job starts, possibly stretching the salary cap to do so, giving him the opportunity to impress afl scouts who eventually recognised his potential. The fact that he packed his bags and returned to Echuca when the AFL became to difficult for him was bad enough. Then to re- emerge as a recruit for North this year has many southies rightly rankled ............

Livid??? None of you South lot seem too fussed that last years B&F winner in McGlone left "Polar Park" for Unley???

As I mentioned some players left for various reasons. While McGlone had a reasonable season winning the B&F- he didnt have a lot to beat last year. The club took a stand obviously, I believe a responsible one, not to increase payments to players based on their appalling performances in 2007. McGlone asked for more $, and Sturt were obviously in a far better position financially than we were(............. ?), to grant his wishes.
While I am sure our current list hasnt the quality of the last few years, be assured that the lads this year are having a crack. That is a vastly different situation to some of last years spineless efforts.
PS
archard better have his skates on this Saturday.

that is bull.
Know for a fact, Archard pretty much asked if he could come over.... pretty much on minumum pay because he was untried. Never had a job given to him by south... wasn't he just riding track work???
And as for last year, he had a shocker with injuries and with all that was going on behind the scenes at South, I think I can understand why you would be sick of the caper.
Why is every other departure from south not coping as much flack??

........pretty much on minumum pay..........- you are kidding!
his renumeration from the club may be "minimum", but what of his off field "package?"
