What a backward paper. Less than two weeks before the first game and we still have last years coaches, captains etc under the SANFL section.

btw, some news today

Skipworth injury blow
By ZAC MILBANK
20mar06

CROWS midfielder Hayden Skipworth could be in doubt for Adelaide's round one contest against Collingwood after injuring his ankle in Woodville-West Torrens' victory against Central on Saturday.

Returning from a calf injury with the Eagles, Skipworth rolled his ankle inside the first three minutes, forcing him to the bench for the rest of the afternoon.
"It didn't look too bad," Eagles general manager John Kantilaftas said. "Our doctor said he might miss one to two weeks but the Crows will diagnose him and he might not miss as much with their rehabilitation program."

The news was much worse for another AFL-listed player, Port Adelaide's Nick Lower, who will miss up to eight weeks after breaking his thumb playing for NORWOOD on Saturday night.

High-flying South forward Dale Ellis, who booted three goals in the Panthers' 86-point rout of the Redlegs, has a swollen elbow which will be monitored this week.

Gun NORTH ADELAIDE recruit Steven Koops, who dominated the opening 10 minutes of the Roosters' trial match before succumbing to an ankle injury, is in doubt for round one.

STURT newcomer Steve Perri will miss 4-6 weeks with a dislocated shoulder suffered against Glenelg. He will have scans today to confirm the extent of the damage.

maybe they're thinking Dale Lewis will get sick of his juvenile day job on radio and go back to Norwood?
Seriously though, the only article in months given any space at all was about the salary cap controversey.
What are they going to do about a season preview?, last year it was a magazine format, not too bad.
Had better hurry up though.

Another reason why us, the passionate SANFL supporters on this site (and FootySA) need to get onto as many people as possible to snap up the Media Guide's when they are available shortly ...

I know that they will be doing the team photographs in the paper again, so hopefully there will be more.

I think they are slow enough to run a paper in far North Queensland.

Look at the westies section. Rehn resigned three games before end of last season, Weed appointed two games before end of last season. Luke norman retired 3 quarters of the way through and yet they are both still up.

Then under the latest news section of the club, over the summer we have had stories of other clubs.

This is bullshit folks. Not accpetable under any standard.

Over here, its a good thing we have the Com Games otherwise we would not worry about running the Sun at the moment. 3/4 of the paper is dedicated to the games.

Good thing there is no state, national or international news worthy of reporting at the moment.

Maybe it would be good if the Messenger could put a full report of ALL games in their not just the "local" team. Their are many supporters of teams who do not live in the council zone of the team they support. I know of many Doggies fans who live in the West & down South.

Good point giffo and I have made that complaint to the Messenger as I live in the Glenelg area and it is pain reading about the bloody tigers - bad enough living near the Glenelg Oval (tongue in cheek snouts!)

I'm lucky because one of the Messenger Regional Office's is on Morphett Road at Morphettville not far from my house so I go in on a Thursday during footy season and pick up the Messenger paper that covers the Propsect area.

If the Advertiser covers SANFL, you buy it.

If the Advertiser doesn't cover SANFL, you buy it so you can bitch about it.

So why should they cover SANFL if they're still making money out of you regardless? It's about time you all realised that by supprting this publication, you're part of the problem.

We buy it in the hope the SANFL coverage is reasonable (call us eternal optimists!). So we should whinge - the coverage is deplorable on most days - meaning none when there are days when there is newsworthy stuff. Doug Robertson told me in Darwin he writes lot's of stories but the sports editor disregards about 95 percent of them. An example of that is his match review of the NT game - hardly got a run in the 'Tiser yet it was very comprehensive and to think we payed for his bloody trip!

It's like 5AA when they decide to do the odd SANFL game - they carry on like they support local football and all of a sudden become experts at a product the commnetators never watch or care about 90 percent of the time.

Wide Receive has a point here. Put pressure on them! I think they consider the percentages to be that for every person who can be screwed writing a letter of complaint, there are about 100 others that were equally screwed off that couldn't be screwed writing a letter.
Posting on this forum isn't enough! Complain direct to the editor! We want comprehensive SANFL coverage or else we won't buy your crappy paper anymore! Every letter speaks for a hundred!
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Good point giffo, drebin and wide receiver!!!
I'm sick of reading about South in my local rag during the footy season!
And you're right wide receiver, I continue to subscribe to the Advertiser and I continue to whinge.
The main reason I get it is every day I have hope there'll be an SANFL article in there.

CA seems to expect more than he expects. I expect the expectations on the Advertiser have them expectorating.

A more compelling reason for all to get right behind the C31 shows also. We all need to show the SANFL and the powers-that-be at various media organisations that us, the fans, want and deserve to see more coverage of the league.

Personally, I think nearly all journalists at the SA media outlets would like to see more coverage and stories about the league. This is sometimes out of their hands for a few reasons. The Media Guide is an excellent start to this also, and certainly deserves all of our support. We will certainly be getting right behind it through the shows also.
