& in the Salary Cap Stakes over 3200m, North Adelaide, who set the pace originally, have weakened off, & over the last 1200, West Adelaide are mounting a strong challenge. As they turn for home, West are about four lengths in front, but here comes Port Adelaide! It's going to bolt in, and Port Adelaide win the Salary Cap Stakes by 6 lengths, second is West, and 10 lengths back third, well, you could throw a hanky over them, but tailed off a clear last is Glenelg... Awaiting the all clear from the Stewards...

But wait there's been a protest, the stewards are holding an inquiry.....they're checking the "books", and yes interference at the 1200, North are the "winners" of the Salary cap stakes......

The promising colt Glenelg ran home well, looking good for 2007......

I shouldn't have raised the "old chestnut" re the salary cap and whilst lots of poeple have had a crack at North - we are not in the Port Adelaide league when it comes to payments this year. Having recently spoken to a person of particular importance at the bay - I have a very good idea what money Butcher is on because he wouldn't be playing for less now he has changed clubs- plus what he "hocked" about to a few SANFL clubs last year before signing with Glenelg. Add him to the mix of the other recruits (and players like Clayton, Waterhouse, Achee) the Magpies have signed, assuming most are on what Baird is "allegedly" getting as I know what he asked for when his Manager contacted North then some players must be on $50.00 a game at Port?

By the time the SANFL picks over South and the allegations involving them and then move onto Port - because "alledgedly" they are next in the firing line - they will be too tired and confused to worry about any other club has or has not done plus the season would have finsished in any case!

You get the impression the SANFL thinks its all to hard, and don't really know how to deal with the salary cap issue. I think they are worried what they might find if they looked hard enough.

You might be right ca - but be rest assured North are playing by the rules and are using them to very good effect too. :)

I know what happened to Butcher..he got the Chop ha ha. Seriously though, it would be just like the SNAFL to have problems enforcing the salary carp when my mob is friggin broke!!

Just like you and every other North supporter likes to point out that you wouldnt be over the cap because youve lost more players than youve signed....Port has done the same. Weve gained 6 players and have lost about 15.

A decent signing. Takes over the Alvey spot I guess

Ok guys I was really just after someone to confirm, so thanks for that. You may all now continue with the salary cap issue again and again and again.

Haha that is shocking but i like it.

You lads are right though, the SANFL can't really be bothered checking it out and would rather turn a blind eye, its easier that way.

Has Alvey paid back his sign on fee or is he still trying to win it back at various gamblng establishments allegedly?
