presuming the current form trend continues which of the top 3 teams is more likely to miss the grand final ?

I voted the Bays because I want us to play Sturt in thr GF, beat them and feel a bit of revenge for the 2002 finale...

Plus just to pee Bayman and all the Bays fans off as well...

Nah, seriously though, it will be a flip of the coin out of Sturt and Glenelg as to who will play Centrals... Joking again... !!

Really hard to say, but I certainly think it will be out of the 3 teams entioned in the poll... In saying that though, anything can happen come finals time with injury, suspension, player availability etc, etc... And let's not forget, it's still only the halfway mark of the year

Let me just dust off my crystal ball and I reckon I will have an answer for you come 5.30pm on Sunday October 5th 2008

I guess one of the reasons I think Centrals will be there again bayman is that I slightly disagree with your statement above...

I think Glenelg and Sturt will continue to pretty much dominate most sides they play, apart from us and each other of course...

BUT, I think the Doggies are FAAAAARRRRRRR from hitting their straps and within the next 4 - 6 weeks we will have a real settled side (assuming we don't have anymore injuries) and will just be cherry ripe for another tilt at the title...

"presuming their form continues", then by definition it has to be the dogs, since the dogs are currently in third place.

Nevertheless I think the dogs will make it - again. A better question would be "who will meet the dogs this year - Sturt, Glenelg, or other?"

It all depends on the definition of 'current form' I suppose.

Based on the last game played, Bays would miss.

Based on the last 2 games, toss the coin between Bays & Dogs.

Based on the last 3 games, Dogs would miss.

Big factor this year is Dogs wont have the luxury of last season (and previous years) of doing a hard month of fitness training in July to build up to September..

We all have respect for what the Dogs have achieved but everything has to finish at sometime and there are signs it could be this year..

Maybe we should look at the 3 teams form when they play each other (as this will be the case in the 2nd semi and prelim)

Based on that the ladder is -

Glenelg
Sturt
Dogs

Why not dutchy? We've started the first phase of the increased training already. I'd be surprised if the Bays haven't done the same as well.

Anyone stopped to think that one of the grand finalists may not even be the top 3 yet?

IIRC in 1978, 1984 and 1991 one of grand finalists weren't even in the top 5 at this stage of the year.

By my calculations all of the top 3 could still miss the finals....

I agree just making a point that there are still over half teh minor Rd to go and so there is ample opportunity for clubs other than those currently in the top 3 to get their sh!t together.

Wrong thats exactly what the Dogs are doing, Roy only ever aims for a top 3 spot which he is pretty confident we will get. Top spot is an added bonus, but not the be end all end of it.
The Dogs have a big month of training coming up trust me im a car salesmen

and what if the extra training means some extra losses and the Top 3 berth is under threat?

But in all seriousness, I have confidence in how the club manage this part of the season - the last 8 years have shown that no matter what position we are in mid-season, a top 3 finish is possible whilst preparing for finals with increased training.

What does current form matter at all when it comes to finals? I don't remember saying to myself "well they were playing well in June, so they'll probably win". It's about wins at the moment, which all teams are doing, and playing well later in the season. History is littered with sides who played better early in the season and failed towards the end. I'm more than confident that the dogs will be playing much better than they currently are when finals arrive, and if we're seeing the best of Glenelg and Sturt now then it will be a matter of which of them earns the result to lose to us in the GF.

i may have worded it incorrectly, but it is meant to mean that the dominance of the premiership ladder by 3 teams atm means that they are clearly better than the rest (atm) so i ask who would miss, obviously injuries, form etc in 10-12 weeks time

fwiw i can't see any other team realistically going top
