Spoon Day 2008

Postby Jimmy » Tue Jun 17, 2008 1:24 pm

Ok, thought it was time to get talk going on 'Spoon Day 2008'. Have westies got it wrapped up? Could Port, or even South and at a huge stretch North be a contender for this unwanted prize? Will the Eagles put up their hand too?

Some far-fetched ones there I know but lets hear it from the fans to see who presents who with the dreaded 'Spoons' in Rd. 23?

Gee, I'm glad spoon day wasnt around when I was younger ;)

Jimmy I suppose the Sunday clash will go along way to decide the titleholder of the spoon. It would have to be between West and Port with South a outsider. North will battle with Norwood and the Eagles for 4th and 5th spot.

Surely you are only trying to bait with that suggestion about North???

We might be a rabble off the field in some areas presently but we are not that bad on field to suggest we will go from 4th to last in half a season!

Having won it the last 3 seasons do we just present ourselves with it again?
Perhaps a couple of days after the minor round ends we could unveil our colours on top of a cutlery factory.

I really hope for Westies sake that they do not win fourth spoon in a row, despite the changes that they have made in the management of the club, the coaching staff and the playing list, for that to happen would be very much dehabilitaing for the club.

I cant see Port winning the spoon, so the only other candidate is South and I think that after this weeks game at Prospect will will have some idea if that is a likely scenario or not, which I most definatley hope is not!

Is this most positive thing to be posted by a North supporter in the last two months?

LOL@the evolution of Spoon Day. Us Snouts really enjoyed the initial Spoon Day, but our Norwood friends around us didn't particularly enjoy it...

Almost got our noses punched in when trying to get Norwood fans to pose for photos holding wooden spoons with red and blue ribbon tied around the handle.

Long live Spoon Day. Give it to West now...

LOL I didn't know you guys back then, but was pretty close to y'all with my Bays mate ... I said to him at the time, "Chucky, I'm sorry mate but if I get offered one of those spoons you know where it's going to end up"

We had a good laugh, actually thought it was done in a really good spirit and partially took my mind of the schellacking we were copping on the field that day.

We are only one game off of the bottom think its a bit early to give them out yet, well at least 5 days early anyway.

If we loose Sunday then it will be more than a little difficult to get past Port unless some of the teams lie down for us just to see the once mighty magpies get the spoons.

The only way Port or South can win the spoon is if West win 2 more than Port and 3 more than South for the rest of the season, and both Port and South go winless.

Over to you West fans...

Port and South don't have to go winless, we just have to win 2 more games than Port (or 1 and make up percentage) and 3 more than South. But going winless would be much appreciated.

:o Surely we are not that bad to go from a grand final to a spoon, considering we were one of the favs for the flag at the start of the year ?
