Do the Bays lose Sellar and Gibbs this week?

Postby Wedgie » Wed Apr 12, 2006 3:12 pm

I see that both are in the U17 Australia v Ireland games (Gibbs is captain tomorrow and Sellar on Sunday)
Excuse my ignorance but does this mean they're not playing against the Dogs this Saturday (matches are on Thurs and Sun).
And are there any other league SANFL players that will be missing out on games for their club?

If this is the case I'd be spewing if I was a Bays fan coming up against the Dogs with 2 key players off playing in an exhibition game that IMHO means absolutely nothing.

Umm, did you read my initial post?
Its because they're playing a round ball game on Thursday and Sunday.

That is a pretty poor decision, why couldn't they schedule the games at the end of the season or something?

I guess not too many league players are under 17 though..

I guess they will probably be gone next year anyway, so you would like to get what you can out of them while they are here!

They would actually have to miss 2 weeks. (AIS rule)

So presumably thru good luck, the Bays have the bye the week after.

P.S. IMHO Sellar will go BEFORE Gibbs in the draft, but both will go in the top 5.

Great opportunity?
Yeah great opportunity to play an imganiery game that's not played anywhere in the world, be easy to make a living there!
What if the Bays just lose the game on Saturday and miss out on the finals by percentage?
Wouldn't that be a bigger opportunity?
Hell, its a bigger opportunity alone just playing another game against the reigning premiers and powerhouse of this century.

Borat, agree, both are young and both are great skilled lads but I think Sellar will progress into an AFL footballer earlier and is a bit more rare if you know what I mean?

Yep, Sellar is a boy in a (big) man's body already. Gibbsy is still growing and developing. Gibbsy has silky skills and incredible composure and vision, but Sellar is more of a "KPP".

Will be watching both with gerat interest for many years.

P.S. Never met Sellar, but have crossed paths with Bryce quite a few times, is a genuinely top bloke, always good for a chat, very open, honest and level headed. Football is his life, and his life is football.

Hard to remember these two are still at school!

All bays supporters would wish them nothing but complete success for the rest of their football careers.
