I just read your Phil, and it was yet another fine example of a well constructed, well explained post from you. I was thinking the same thing in terms of linking this with FootySA. It would be up to the moderators here to moderate this forum, and the FootySA crew to moderate the articles was an idea I had. Whether or not that means you need to have two different accounts (but the same name) I don't know, but for now it's just an idea to consider. I also think there should be more stricter terms for banning a user name - one of them that starts with G comes to mind, but there are some others I can come up with.

I'd just like to let everyone know since Phil and spell check brought it up that if the footysa guys did want to head down the track they mentioned I'd be 100% behind them*.
Well actually Im 100% behind anything they decide to do but I think it would be a good outcome which would accomodate both their concerns and some usability for the fans. If/when they do decide what they're going to do they can contact me anytime to discuss the details.
Hell, I'd be quite happy to just be a joint photographer of the site with Diss and gouudogs! :D

I think at the heart of the issue for us, is we never really started footysa as a forum.

When we started there was very little in the way of sanfl content on the web at all. FootySA.com was simply a place to put scores, news and perhaps if we had enough people a tipping comp.

We were always uncomfortable with the chat/forum stuff, in fact when we started we didn't even have a forum at all, our tagline used to be "Comprehensive SANFL news and results", not SANFL talk or chat.

I guess I also wanted to mention that we've never really had any formal or informal threats of legal action. What we have had is plenty of complaints from clubs, players and other people in the community.

As Phil pointed out, we started FootySA.com as a place to promote sanfl football. During the last few months we found that, due to comments made by a few people, we were actually doing the opposite.

We're still not sure where we go from here, i think we'll definitely be running the tipping comp, (hopefully with a sponsor for prizes) as for anything else I can't say for sure at the moment.

Whether there is room or a need for two sanfl sites (a chat forum site and a news/tipping site), I'm not sure, time will tell.

Maybe there's room for 1 site which deals with results/news etc, and another one running as a fan forum, that way everyone can be kept happy.

Well im pretty sure that both sites can exist. Even if footysa is a news and results site and this stays as the chat forums. I dont think there will be a problem.

So, for argument's sake, we could be looking at an AFL - Big Footy type scenario in the future?

Win-win on both counts I reakon.

If this were to eventuate, would there be the possibility of feature articles on a revamped FootySA, similar to what The Age has on their 'Real Footy' site?

I understand that the footysa folk are going through some heavy times now but I was a bit confused why a post I made last night never made it past the moderators.
PunkRooster had posted a topic on away guernseys, and about 95% of respondants thought that it was a great idea. I happen to disagree, and wrote that I know I am outnumbered here, but for the sake of discussion, I think there is no need for away guernseys as I don't have any trouble distinguishing between the teams now, and I am a traditionalist, and the sensationalisation/commercialisation of our game is best left in the AFL.
Anybody feel offended by the above? Perhaps an underpriviledged, minority section of the community could feel discriminated against in some way? Perhaps the TALPAGI (The Association for the Lovers of the Punkrooster Away Guernsey Idea)?
Seriously though, what is wrong with the above?

I think this new site is great Wedgie you have done a great job with this and the South Adelaide chat forum.
I like how we can have pictures and the fact you can edit what you have written (in case you've hit the piss too much wake up the next day and thought **** what have I written).
Anyway I'm not sure where i was going with that but this is a great place to talk about the SANFL.
Bring on 2006.

Gotta agree with that Jman.

Can't remember how many times on the weekend I logged onto footysa and e-mailled a moderator asking to hide my comments made from the night before.

Has the phrase "pooper valve" been used on this forum yet?

Maybe no-one's interested BUT, I wrote last night about an over-moderation of one of my comments on the footysa site.
And guess what?
Now both my comments are on the footysa site. One where I am complaining about my omitted post, and another, the ORIGINAL omitted post, inserted in the place where it should have been ORIGINALLY!!!
It wasn't there last night, but the comments made after it WERE.
And then Madcapmilky made a sarcastic comment about how dumb I look and quoted a Pink Floyd song!
My internet world is falling apart! Things aren't what they seem! It's a twilight zone! A Matrix!

I've had the same sort of thing happening - posts that were not controversial that have not been posted, or they were added but a while after newer posts had been.
