FootySA running again

Postby mick » Thu Oct 27, 2005 2:56 pm

From the site:

"OK well we're back, we'll allow moderated comments for now.
This means that all comments and forum topics that are posted, will remain hidden until one of the footysa.com crew has eyeballed it and given it the ok.

We'll see how we go in this format, we're exploring a few other options so we don't have to run this way for the long term.

Thanks for all the emails of support, we were absolutely inundated and it's made us more determined to do everything we can to keep this site going.

Although at this stage we're not sure how we can do this and if we can, what form it will take."

Can't see this working

Taking it down for that short time is almost too hard to reverse.

I know what you mean.

Kind of reluctant to go back myself.

Depends on others though, I guess.

I added a comment to a thread, took 30 minutes to come up. That was the fun of it though. The forum page, the immediate quip back, the banter.

Hope they can overcome it coz they way it is wont work. I for one would pay a subscription, tender verified personal details and even sign a waiver to have it back as was.

I posted there over 2 hours ago, still nothing, wont be much fun in there on a Friday or Saturday night, should still suit the people who log on in business hours if the footysa guys stay on there all the time to get posts out.

One of the few things I wont miss at footysa is not having the ability to edit your own posts, yeah I know there's a preview facility (which stupid me always ignored) but on boards like this you can always go back and fix up silly typos which I'll be doing all the time! :D

Why go back? No edit, no avatar, no immediate posting. Plus, I'd have to put up with my old mate Tinpot again and I just don't have the patience to put up with teenage girls anymore.

Looks good here, think I'll stay.

regards,

FootySA site appears to be down 7.40am. They made a big mistake closing the site in the way they did, should have just taken the whole site down without explanation and then make their decisions. I think they may have lost the core group of their posters here. Most sites like this seem to have 40 - 50 active posters with large numbers of "oncers" and people who register but never post. May I suggest that non-active members be removed from time to time?
