Hang on this smells like the video stuffed up and nothing will happen moment!

I don't know what the video has to do with it but as someone said on the Stretcher Rule thread, the umpire should be dropped back to the U17s.

Death

Nothing to do with the umpires.
... until he got involved in it. There should be a Royal Commission into this breach of rules (I must get at least 2/3 in my tips!!!)

Ok that was a jibe at the SANFL :D like when a gowans gets reported

The umpire from my view looked as if he was rushing mackenzie onto the field . so then the umpire will get dropped back to the U17's if anything comes from this.

What's the use of the interchange steward if they are not there to control, police and administer the interchange rules. Why have a wad of paper and make copius notes about interchanges if the info is not going to be used to get the interchange right. How hard is it for the interchange steward to advise the team making the interchange that the player can't go back on because the rules don't allow it. Just as there are field umpires to adjudicate on breaches or deliberate flouting of the laws on the field the interchange steward should be doing likewise for interchanges. If the interchange steward working under the auspicious of the SANFL allows it, it stands. End of argument.

The ABC said the steward told the Eagles he coudln't come back on.
ie He didn't allow it, hence why the argument is not ended.

Was that before or after the umpire waved Mackenzie back onto the field ?

A substitution under Blood Rule and a Normal Interchange are two very different things with two seprate Laws.

Interchange Law 7
Blood Rule Law 22

In the entire section on the Blood Rule the Interchange Steward is NEVER mentioned.
By my reading of it the UMPIRE has total authority on the situation.

Refer Stretcher Laws thread for more information.

6 goals up and lost against the f'n eagles again

really shits me

sounds like incompetant umpiring really cost us in the end as well (according to 5rph)

Did 5rph mention how many times Norwood had an opportunity to win the game in the last? Norwood only have themselves to blame.

Thanks for you contribution

Just calling it how I see it.

Then again I might be wrong.....I was watching the game at the ground. Where were you? Sunny Queensland?

The way I see it, the umpire waved McKenzie on the ground to try to prevent unecessary delays in getting the game started again. He waved McKenzie on to the ground when he was standing at the interchange gates waiting to come on. The umpire may not have known it was McKenzie coming back on. It was the Eagles, and maybe the interchange stewart who stuffed up.

Perhaps a final word.

Confirmed today by the SANFL that WWTFC DID NOT break any SANFL rules.

Stretcher may leave ground and player is deemed to have gone thru' interchange.
No 20 minute rule re returning to play.

Club doctor checked the player and determined he was fit to return to play.

Yep, fair enough.

Rule #1, I will not post just after hearing my team lose in the last minute of the game.

Thanks CD

Mental note for 2007 - Must ask Shane Harris to send local media any SANFL ammendments to AFL rules when they send the rule book out.
