Very possible, as they mentioned in today's Advertiser that they didn't replace Daniel Healy (who of course went to North) in the role of player development, which of course is something Ron has a great track record of...

The other thing is that Ron may just have had enough of coaching after 10 years and may be focusing more on his career in the fire brigade...

Eagles members just got this letter emailed to them from Ron...

Ron Fuller wrote:I would like to announce that I won’t be continuing as coach of the Woodville West Torrens Football Club beyond the 2009 season.

Simply, both I and Management believe it is time for someone else to coach the club.

I have enjoyed every moment of the experience and I thank the club sincerely for the opportunity to coach my club.

I would like to especially thank Les Stevens and John Kantilaftas for their support over this period. I would also like to thank all those that have been associated with the on field roles over the 9 seasons I have coached too. From assistant coaches, runners, trainers and support staff your loyalty has been exceptional.

It is extremely appreciated and I will be reminded constantly of the good times we have had together.

I would like to pay special sentiments to Shane Reardon, Mark Harrison, Dave Morallee, Rip Van Vugt, Gary Sholdis, James Ilic, Mike Whinnen, Chris Bryce and Rosemary Cook who have been with me for the entire period.

Once again to all of you, your hard work, loyalty and support are something that can’t be expressed adequately but be assured that you have been incredibly appreciated by me for all of this time.

The last thanks are for the players who have been hard working and have been supportive of the ideas we have tried to implement. The memories of seeing many young people develop into quality players and quality people are as satisfying as anything most people can only imagine.

I wish the club every success, for the rest of this season and into 2010 and beyond.

Thankyou.

Ron Fuller.

30 JULY 2009

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club today announced that Ron Fuller will not be seeking an extension to his contract at the end of the 2009 season.

Both Ron and the management of the Club believe it is time, after nine quality years of service to the Eagles as Senior Coach, for a new direction to be taken for season 2010 and beyond.

On the decision Fuller said “Simply, both I and the management of the Eagles believe it is time for someone else to coach the club”.

“I have enjoyed every moment of the experience and I thank the Woodville West Torrens Football Club sincerely for the opportunity to coach my club”.

“The memories of seeing many young people develop into quality players and quality people are as satisfying as anything most people can only imagine”.

“For now though, we are back to work; we have a season to complete and it is one in which I believe we can figure prominently in”.

Kurt Slaven, Chairman of the Woodville West Torrens Football Club said “Ron Fuller has been an outstanding servant of the Woodville Football Club and Woodville West Torrens Football Club over a period of more than 30 years, the last 9 years as Senior Coach”.

“Since taking over the Senior Coaching position in 2001, Ron has presided over the Eagles becoming one of the most consistent performed Club’s in the SANFL”

“After a distinguished career as a player, playing 235 combined games for the Woodville and Woodville West Torrens Football Club, Ron will have also coached more than 200 games of League Football with the Eagles”.

“To put these figures into some context, we have been advised by the SANFL that only he and John Cahill have achieved the feat of playing and coaching more than 200 games for the same Club”.

“Of course, from the Club’s perspective, the pinnacle of Ron’s tenure as Coach so far is the 2006 premiership win” but added that “we hope the crowning achievement is the 2009 premiership”

To that end, all associated with the Woodville West Torrens Football Club will approach the remainder of the 2009 season as ‘business as usual’, maintaining our expectation to figure deeply into the finals series.

Can we change the title. Ron has technically not quit. He is fulfilling his contractual obligations.

An excellent coach, and if it had to end, then it will be handled well.

Well done Ron on a great coaching career, so far.

More Appropriate would be "Ron Fuller To Leave Eagles" ... he has not gone yet.

Even if the Eagles don't win another match is record already makes him the most successful coach in the history of the West Torrens, Woodville or Woodville-West Torrens clubs.

Well done Ron. You could argue he is the Stuart MacGill of Sanfl Coaching. I have read some of the disappointment with him from eagles fans but from the outside it seems he has done much to maintain a winning culture at oval avenue. Maybe should have won in 2000. And Probably should have been more competitive in 2004. But 5 Gf's is a big achievement. Hope he does well in whatever he does from here on. I still remember him tearing up the SAFA playing for Flinders Park!!

Ron took the team on when it was left in the lurch by an AFL heading fly in.He did well to get the side up and into Grand finals and to finally win the clubs second flag in 2006.
And I say thanks Ron .You took the club as far as you could and are leaving under good circumstances .With a great stirring win against North Adelaide a good time to announce .Once again well done and thanks Ron .

Now the fun begins for our young CEO to find someone new with new ideas etc to take the club forward .
