Rnd 21 Preview - Eagles v West @ Woodville (Sun 23/8)

The Eagles continued on their good form, cementing a spot in the finals with a win over the hapless South Adelaide while Westies come of the season's biggest hiding at the hands of Sturt.

Injuries and AFL selections will having some bearing on the make up of both sides but regardless of how that falls, I think the Eagles will be way too strong at home for the Bloods.

Don't forget it is "Kid's Day" at Woodville as well so check out the link below, make sure you take all the kids along...

Interesting game this week Passador is a must selection IMHO no matter what the out going coach thinks of him.
AFL players will Stewart and Dangerfield come back into their SANFL sides ?

Eagles need to win to get the WEST monkey of their backs.West will push the Eagles but the Eagles are almost at the business end of the season.

Eagles to win .

Hey, that's what the AFL wants, prime viewing of our 18s talent at a reasonable time. ;)

Problem is most of the under 18s that may get drafted are playing league or reserves this time of the season

So why would they do this for? Just to view a couple of smokeys in the 18s? Better the way it was last year.

Wish we could just fast forward to the finals...

Of course want Eagles to win and play well and most importantly suffer no injuries, but it would make it interesting if West beat us and North lose to Norwood.

Would rather meet West in an Elimination Final than North.

I'd rather face North Aerie we have at least beaten North in 09.
Of course that could change come sunday ;)

Strange comment. West have beaten the Eagles (easily) and draw against them in there two games this year and we are a better team since then.

Not really, because although we have beaten North twice this year, none have been convincing, and North won the last 5 games before that; four of those was when they were down by a fair margin; and two of those were finals.

I'd like to add not many of the Eagles wins have been convincing .I'd love to see us thrash a team like we used to in the good ole days under Ron .

One would hope that the eagles have learnt from the two previous games against west and be more proactive in their attack on the ball and get it first. Whoever wins the midfield will win the game (West has convincingly done this in our past 2 encounters).

Got that right, last weekends win was the biggest for the year by a fair margin (before Saturday it was 32 points vs Port at Alberton).

Reckon Steven Morris a Huge Loss for us. If the Power take Lobbe we are in deep trouble

Just think the Eagles have to much strength across the park...

A strong forward line through the likes of Salter, Grocke, McGregor if used in attack and possibly Passador if he returns to the side, with some talented crumbers in Goldsworthy, Polec, Cheep and the like. Then throw in a pretty handy and experienced midfield with the possible return of Powell and Treeby, a solid defence with Broadbent, Hier and co. and you have a pretty tough side to overcome.

Whilst Westies have certainly been the the big improver this year, I just think losing the likes of Hassan and Cupido, and now Morris, it has just unsettled them a little and coming off a demoralising loss to Sturt, the confidence would be pretty shot. I think the Eagles are capable of really dominating a game if they put 4 quarters together and think they will do so this week.

Hence, my tip of Eagles by 7 goals.
