"SANFL Insight" Tuesday 13 June

Postby CK » Mon Jun 12, 2006 7:42 pm

Hi everyone,

Don't miss this Tuesday nights (8.30) show, when we feature a career retrospective interview with North Adelaide legend, Barrie Robran. This is a real highlight of our year so far, and a personal highlight for myself and new co-host John Nankivell. One not to be missed.

Cheers
Chris

Top stuff Chris, one of the great sayings related to such greats as Robran "is its hard to be humble."What a stellar example of a person and player.

If you want to go far, go together.

This one was a personal highlight of the year for us, and Barrie was very generous with his kind words and willingness to discuss so many different aspects of his career. There has been a huge reaction to this show, so we are considering repeating it later on in the year. Life produces some true gentlemen of the game and this was certainly one of those nights.

On this week's show, join Chris Andrews, John Nankivell and myself as we discuss some interesting innovations with local footy. One idea we have raised from left field is the possibility of the SANFL programming a match in early September (a Friday night, Sat. afternoon or Sat. night game) at the Wayville Showgrounds, to coincide with the Royal Show. Entry would be gained through show entry, and it would be an ideal opportunity to hit a captive audience - right at the demographic the SANFL need to aim for, to create the next generation of SANFL fans. It may be a matter of a club sacrificing a lower drawing home game to take the opportunity to play in front of 7-10,000 fans, and takes the game right to the people. It is a very different idea and there are many logistics to work through, but is it worth considering?
