C31's Joe Pedlar challenge

Postby CK » Tue Jun 13, 2006 10:53 pm

Hi everyone,

Many of you have heard about the challenge we on "Total SANFL" have laid down to Joe to kick his first SANFL goal. After 88 games, he is the most experienced player yet to post the first major. We had a prize pool of 3 cartons of West End and a $50 voucher to "At The Toss Of A Coin". This also explains the running tally each week in front of me on the desk on Sundays.

Thanks to the generosity of Glenrae Stud (Joe owns a broodmare, Artful Dane), they have donated two $2000 services to their top sire, "Citizen Kane" to the prizepool - making the total pool nearly $4200 in prizes. This may become one of the most valuable goals kicked in SANFL history!

We look forward to having Joe on the show when this day arrives! The Eagles players and coaches are all aware of this, and it is building a real following now among the fans also.

Cheers
Chris

Pedler has kicked two behinds. The first was in Round 7 2003 - his 33rd game and the second was in Round 6 this year - his 84th game.

G'day PB,

Not at this stage, although it is something we may also introduce down the track. The challenge is squarely upon Joe's broad shoulders to boot that first goal. I will, hopefully, be at the game when this occurs (will be at Norwood v Eagles next week, but maybe that's not the ideal one to do it at  ), otherwise any safooty.net'ers or footysa.com'ers who happen to be at the game when it occurs can let me know.

Probably not a bad ploy as a racehorse owner, we've all seen how fast New Zealand horses are!! :D

Ahh, it's an old joke but my timing was impeccable......

He would be mad to kick a goal now... The publicity for this campaign will only increase over the next couple of months - as will the prize pool.

He ran down to the forward line 3 or 4 times tonight and finally got a mark in the goal square. Massive cheer and with fists pumping in the air all the way back to full back. Almost every Eagle player huddled around him after the goal. Very funny stuff!

Damn, I was at the other end - must have been the last quarter, becuase I was behind the Eagles goals for the first three. I had no idea he got it, but well done, anyway! Took 90 games but it was well worth the wait. In the the third quarter he was behind Passador in the goalsquare and it fell back to him, only for a free kick to be awarded against either him or Passador.

Yep last quarter, brilliant stuff, he got chaired by basically, the entire eags team on the field at the time.
Also a cracking goal by Flash Jarrad

Peds got a little hungry after that and kept running down inside the f50

MY LIFE IS ALMOST COMPLETE! All I need now is a premiership. After years of screaming "kick a goal Peds" tonight I witnessed it. My scarfe was in the air, swinging around like Sheedy's jacket. He took a mark in the goal square earlier but a free was awarded against him.

Well done Peds...Now we need Ryan Potter to kick a goal!

I think I'm right in saying that James Vandeleur also got his first goal at League level?
