How will your team improve in 2010?

Now that most ins and outs have been finalised how will your team improve in 2010?

Will it be the younger players stepping up, new recruits being guns, getting more use out of afl listed players, having a better run with injuires, how will your team improve whatever the reason?

Obviously it will be hard for Central to improve on a premiership but this is how the Dogs side can improve in 2010 imho

-Getting more game time out of Callinan and Havelberg will improve this side dramatically
-Goodrem and Spurr continuing their 2009 finals form to play consistent minor round footy
-O'Hara and Dutschke taking another step to become elite SANFL midfielders
-Eddie Sansbury being interested in the minor round not just finals.
-Getting more game time out of AFL listed players such as Griffen, Henderson and M.Westoff
-Enthusiasm players such as Boyd, Habel, Duncan, should bring the league side chasing a first premiership

South have recruited 12 new players into the club - all juniors under or around 21. No doubt some of them will not make it, yet I am tipping that some will make it and do well as SANFL footballers. We also have some lads from the SFL that are training the house down and look like being very good inclusions into the League list of the side once its finalised. Players also like Curtis Perry who have been on the fringe of the league side have shown some solid improvement as well, which leads me to suggest that it will be much harder this season to actually get a game for the club which can only lead to the side seeing significant improvement in terms of win loss ratio.

I think its fairly obvious that Ron Fuller is stacking the SAFC list with junior recruits to get a group that he can work with over the next few seasons. I think its a strategy that will work well given time and support from the club.

Let's start from the top;

A coach who is a student of the game, a strict disciplinarian, has a focus on precision skills and let's face it, he's coached the majority of the League side through the juniors already.

Assistant coaches with AFL experience.

A youthful, largely home grown squad with heaps of natural talent and now with recent events, a definite resolve to prove their worth.

Hopefully Nathan Bassett will instill a faster contemporary style of game that eliminates silly
mistakes, overuse of the ball and delivers a goal per possession return consistently higher than
the opposition.

A game plan that strikes hard and fast into a well drilled forward structure.
One that gives itself room to move before flooding occurs but can effectively dominate
with clean possession and find creative scoring options when under extreme pressure.

You know, all the usual stuff that every punter at every club wants to see every week !

Sabre, shouldn't that be "Delivers a goal per possession return lower than the opposition" ???? ;)

Cheers,

How could you even think such a thing 'GL' ?
Yeah, I can see the ambiguity mate. But I'm definitely saying 'more goals per possession than the opposition'.

On paper before the games have started it looks like our forward line has improved, our midfield has slightly weakened (with the expected loss of Broadbent to Power and McKenzie needing to be used in defence) and our defence significantly weakened. The guernsey has also weakened.

Remains to be seen if Godden can improve everything overall. I doubt we'd be pushing for top 3 (which was my expectation immediately after last season). Expect to finish between 4th and 7th.

My thoughts exactly, Aerie.

Our backlines need to be rebuilt and I feel we should have picked up a couple of midfielders.

I reckon we will be in a race with Westies for 5th spot.
To finish between 4th and 6th.

Ok seeing I am normally the biggest pessimist on this god forsaken planet
Let me first say personally the Eagles will finish any where from 1st to 6th. In the home and away season .The finals if the club makes it that's an entire different ball game. So before we get ahead of our selves lets look at the above two quotes !!
Lets start with the "GOLD" jumper .If you two are paid up members then by all means go ahead and talk with Kurt and Chris .Not paid up there's not much you can do but paid up they will happily talk with you.
I have seen the jumper in action and its easier to see our boys on the park. And having one jumper means less money to be spent .
The team ruck stocks have been greatly improved .If we look past Parry's injury. We have Seb,Hobberon(ex basket baller) and these two worked greatly against one and other Friday night.Redden to come in as well as a few others who can play a cameo role if needed.
Forward line looks better not just due to Welsh either there is youth set to play a role as well.Von Burtouch (spelling sorry )looks great Lane looks to have lost nothing .
Backline Heir out Grieger in .West fans tell me he can do well on the likes of Chambers .
Midfilders don't underrate Jimmy Stewart,Goldsworthy, cica and Treeby.
While other teams have youth we do as well not just the ones I have mentioned above Sutcliffe,Allmond ,Rainer,Pollack etc etc.
BUT the most important thing for the club is the new game style .This is going to shock the odd club first time around .take it from me.By reading what Aerie and Bird of Prey are saying they haven't seen it yet either .
And once again I apologise for any names spelt wrong .
And yes I am a pessimist but there's something there that will shake a few non believers up this year !!
Once again
Home and away matches anywhere from 1st to 6th
Make the finals and watch us RUN up that ladder!!!!!

And just for my doggies friends word has gone from doggie players to doggies families who have connections to Eagle players and Eagle families .They think their number 1 foe in 2010 will be the Eagles!!
I cant say which dogs players but it was passed on to me .
Of course this could be just crap but meh bring on the season!!

The fact that we won't have an ex-North player coaching us sees us ahead of the game already.

That Bassett can talk to people without looking as if he's about to burst into tears, or making them want to do likewise, helps too.

Actually with the topic thread that's all I should have said ;)

Mind you the word RUN could mean we will be a lot more running and attacking compared to the last 10 yrs . ;)

Can I suggest you just disable BBcode either in your profile or at the bottom of each post you make mate?
If you can't find the Preview button this might be an alternate course of action.
