This Friday night is my much awaited rematch of the Roosters v My Blue Baggers !!!!!

We were smashed earlier this year @ the same venue @ the same time - and I mean smashed and hopefully Sticks learned some lessons on Norths style of footy currently under Jars !!!!!

Will we see Gill have a purple patch of football as he did earlier in the year or can our kids get us over the line !!!!! [-o< [-o< [-o<

well, our last month has been better than those preceeding it however i just dont think we have the class and skill that north have to get up here. Altho i dont expect it to be 90+ points like it was last time.

hopefully taylor can pull up ok and squizz can get out there.

go you blues!!!

Of those that have been on the injury list the most likely to come back in this week are Koops and Cox. Possibility that Hargraves and Younie might also play. Have to wait and see though.

Well as it turns out Koops and Younie will play league and Hargraves and Cox will play 2's. Very surprised Hargraves isn't playing in the 1's especially given Weatherly is out.

That is a bit of a surprise, i thought Hargy would have walked straight back into the A's. Might have to get there earlier than usual to see how he goes which means a shorter stay at the Cathedral, good to see the big man back. This would have to be his first game in the 2's from memory???

I didn't, he's been out of footy too long and its not as though he was setting the world on fire before he got injured.
Similarly to you I'll be leaving the pub earlier but I prefer the Queens Head, closer to the ground and a much better pub than the Cathedral.
Our boss is leaving tomorrow, lunch starts at 12, afternoon drinks after that, I'm actually looking forward to getting to watch the ressies to sober up a bit!

You have a point about Hargy... its just that we are used to him walking back into the team... good coaching to let him run around in the early game.

Big day tomorrow... grab a few hours tonight, get up to watch Australia beat Croatia (i hope) then i have a test in the morning before hitting the piss at Adelaide Oval.
Saturday promises to be a quiet day.

I think he is a very good player and I am a bit suprised to see that he is named in the 2's especially with our lack of tall defenders !!!

I will be pretty happy though when I rock up tonight to see him actually playing in the reserves !!

This from The Roost (http://www.rocketrooster.com):

It was an amazing turnaround - 40 points down 2/3 into the 2nd quarter to win by 41 points making it a huge 81 points.

However as records only record quarter by quarter scores we can only go compare our half time score comback.

We have broken our record for Best Comeback at Half Time against Sturt EVER (tonight we were 33 points behind):

Previous best:
22 pts 1/2 Score: NA 0.8 v St 4.6 Final Score NA 6.13 d St 6.9 Final Margin 4 pts 2nd S, 1923, Adelaide Oval
13 pts 1/2 Score: NA 5.10 v St 8.5 Final Score NA 16.15 d St 14.9 Final Margin 18 pts Rd 12, 1932, Unley

Biggest Half-Time Comebacks Against All Teams:
55 pts 1/2 Score: NA 7.7 v WT 16.8 Final Score NA 21.18 d WT 21.11 Final Margin 7 pts Rd 4, 1976, Prospect
35 pts 1/2 Score NA 2.7 v Nw 8.6 Final Score NA 10.16 d Nw 9.11 Final Margin 11 pts Rd 12, 1987, Norwood
31 pts 1/2 Score NA 6.4 v WT 11.5 Final Score NA 21.9 d WT 17.9 Final Margin 24 pts Rd 4, 1975, Prospect [/b]

From the Advertiser:

Motlop's magic inspires Roosters
DOUG ROBERTSON
24jun06

North Adelaide 19.20 d. Sturt 14.9
A DANIEL Motlop-inspired North Adelaide pulled off a remarkable escape act to condemn Sturt to also-ran status this season with a 41-point win at Adelaide Oval last night.

After being outplayed and trailing by 33 points at the main break, the rampaging Roosters blasted 15.12 to just 4.4 in an imposing performance that smacked of pure class.

The amazing Motlop conjured a brilliant sleight-of-hand - and foot - performance in the third quarter that made a mockery of human movement.

After just seven unremarkable disposals in the first half, Motlop moved into another sphere to picked up eight kicks, take three classy marks, give out one handball that resulted in a goal to Matthew Campbell and kick 4.2 off his own boot in about 30 minutes. It was simply magical.

He rotated from the goalsquare to the midfield in the second half to menace the Blues with bursts of weaving turns and blissful skills to pick up one more goal to end with 5.5 for the night in a gamebreaking display.

His mate, Campbell, joined Motlop on centre stage with four goals of his own - three in that devastating third quarter - as North careered away to prove it has a number of rabbits to pull out of its hat. Regularly beaten to the ball and sloppy with its forward entries early, North stamped its authority immediately after half-time.

With Motlop and Campbell in overdrive, the Roosters added 5.2 to nothing in the opening 10 minutes of the term with 35 disposals to Sturt's humble 10 touches in that time.

Dean Howard made his presence felt, Scott Bamford stepped up a gear, Shane Schubert and ever-reliable Luke Ivens controlled the defence and Heath Younie began to work into the game.

It was a reversal of the opening half when Sturt had the upper hand.

This contest was the Blues' last chance to stay in touch with the final five and it played accordingly.

Sturt skipper Ben Nelson (hamstring) withdrew before the game, leaving the Blues undermanned in body strength but Jade Sheedy, Andrew Whiteman, Tim Weatherald, Ben Colreavy and half-back Luke Jarjoura played with purpose and guts.

Lightweight wingman Michael Bratton was sensational in the first term with nine disposals and he had Leigh Ryswyk shifted. However, Bratton found it infinitely more difficult on Bamford.

Colreavy (3.3) was relentless but made too many mistakes. Craig Taylor, Angus Kurtze and Will Paley (4.0) proved coach Brenton Phillips has something to work on next year but Sturt did not have the class to match the running North brigade.

RESERVES

NORTH4.65.1311.1613.19(97)
STURT1.53.77.711.10(76)
BEST - North: Down, J. Campbell, McEntee, Moritz, Hargraves, McGahey.
Sturt: Miles, Bentley, Herring, Smith, Wark.

GOALS - North: Hardy, Wundke 2, Kaesler, McEntee, Hargraves, Thompson, Down, Moritz, T. Motlop, Schulz, McGahey.

so true....it was basically too much class...i new it was too good to be true at 1/2 time and was just waiting for the comeback...im angry adn disappointed not coz we lost but how we lost....if we gave the same effort for 4 qtrs, hell id alsmost be happy seeing how the season has gone but to do a jekyll and hyde performance like that...its just painstaking...

BUT....the future is ******* bright and some young lads are mixing it with the best....we have to look to the future w/o squiz and feasty and with kurtze coming along and paley, wilson, taylor et al its gonna be good. but yeah, the 2nd half was deplorable but the kids need losses like that to learn from

i commend sticks on the effort he is doing with what he has...however, the sr players would want to lift as the kids are carrying some of those blokes at the moment....also having nelson and coad out caused a few headaches....bevo was disappointing too after his form in the ressies coming abck from injury...thoguht he could have done more....oh well...there is always next week and well played north...but you wont get those chances against a top 4 team.
