this week with no ballet` footy on in adelaide the sanfl should (my opinion) heavily promote & advertise the games this week with some incentive to go, maybe $5.00, or 2 for the price of 1 to get in, FREE PARKING as well, thats just at a quick thought but they should do something about it, what do you guys think ?? should they or shouldn't they bother ?

This weekend is an AFL-free weekend. The Crows and Power have the week off, so why not get your footy fix from the SANFL this weekend? The SANFL will be celebrating a Grassroots Round. Activities on the day will involve handball competitions, club mascots, players and temporary tattoo artists. Tickets are only $8 for adults, $2 for concession, and kids (under 18 ) are free. So why not come down to Glenelg Oval and check out the action!

Good to see that activities on the day will involve "players", as one of the main activities of an afternoon at the football usually does involve players...

i agree, maybe the marketing at the SANFL should take out a full page ad in fridays advertiser and another ad in saturdays paper advertising the weeks rounds.

get on the radio and the tv and advertise it as well.

SANFL PLAYERS WELCOME SPECTATORS TO GRASSROOTS ROUND
The SANFL will this weekend welcome AFL footy fans back to suburban grounds, as a celebration of Grassroots Round. As an initiative of the SANFL on the AFL free weekend, SANFL players have sent written personal invitations to kids from the schools across South Australia at which the League players first began their football days.
Over 4,800 kids have received invitations and tickets from SANFL League players inviting them to come and experience the atmosphere and action of Local League Footy. By attending any of the matches in this AFL free weekend the kids can use their tickets to enter into a prize draw. Winners at each ground can get themselves a football signed by their favourite SANFL team and win a footy clinic for their school, conducted by their SANFL team heroes. In addition to this, all entries received over the Grassroots weekend will be placed in a major prize draw for the chance to win $1,000 worth of sporting equipment for
their school, courtesy of Parkinson Blunden.
SANFL Players will be signing autographs in the Savings & Loans Family Friendly Areas at all suburban grounds and will conduct handball competitions for the kids.
Highlighting the promotion, the SANFL’s General Manager of Marketing & Corporate Affairs, Paul Anderson said “With no AFL matches being held in SA this weekend our Clubs are really keen to showcase the attacking man on man style of play people have been saying is lost in the AFL. It’s the perfect opportunity
for AFL footy spectators to get back to SANFL action, play with their kids out on the ground and relax whilst watching a great standard of footy. At the same time, a lucky kid is going to be a real hero at school when he or she wins the $1,000 sports equipment prize donated by Parkinson Blunden”.

& with promotion maybe give those that go a free ticket to the next game that w/end ie on friday give people a ticket to go saturday or sunday etc

Why even think of night games at this time of the year. Yes this would have been a perfect time to introduce the young lads to SANFL football but they will not be allowed to go to the football on Friday night because it will be 3 degrees and pissing down acording to the forecast.

Yes the SANFL doesnt know if it is going to rain or not but to schedule 2 games on 1 night in freezing conditions....Well bugger me!

Interesting to see how the w/e is being promoted in the WAFL

Members of West Coast and Fremantle will be admitted FREE this Saturday to see some of their AFL stars in action in the WAFL.


With the Eagles and Dockers having a bye as part of the AFL’s split round, get your football fix at the WAFL this weekend.

Eagles and Dockers members must present their membership cards to gain entry at the WAFL grounds.

At the Claremont versus East Perth game Eagles ruckman Michael Gardiner will continue to push for an AFL recall, as will his Eagles and Tigers teammate Brett Jones. Eagle Mitch Morton has been in sensational form for the Tigers and is also putting his wares firmly in the sights of Eagles coach John Worsfold. Ben McKinley has helped the Royals become more competitive after their slow start to the season. Docker Andrew Browne should play after recovering from a bout of concussion.

Swan Districts and West Perth game will showcase AFL players such as Eagles Ashley Hansen, Mark LeCras and Ben Sharp and Dockers Adam Capmbell and Robert Warnock.

Head to East Fremantle Oval and Fremantle’s Ryley Dunn should be running around for the Sharks, while the long-kicking prowess of Eagle Shannon Hurn should be on display for Peel Thunder.

There will be plenty of AFL class out on the park in the Perth and South Fremantle game. For the Demons, Eagles Steven Armstrong, Sam Butler and Andrew McDougall will take on the talented Bulldogs line-up that includes Eagles Travis Gaspar and Ashley Sampi and Docker Ryan Murphy.

I agree with you there Dogsbody. I feel it is time for the SANFL to Say Hi there we are a league in our own right and Stick it up the AFL. This weekend is the prefect chance for the SANFL to promote the league and get kids and adults behind the league.
