Pretty comfortable win for Westies, after 2 straight loses they were definatly in need of a win and this keeps them in touch with the top 5

Where to for Norwood now, while they weren't expected to win this game they are now sitting 0-4 and have Port, Sturt, North and Glenelg to come so at best i can only see them being 1-7 so finals is going to be extremly hard to make from now.

Norwood ended last year very strong and were expecting to be atleast competitive in the race for the five especially with Fred at the helm, he will be given time no doubt but the longer Norwood stay winless the more the pressure mounts.

Good crowd with lots of kids, which we dont normally see at Richmond. Lights were better placed this week with the centre square no where near as dark.

Disappointed with the way we played the last quarter but we never looked like being beaten.Ezard and Fisher were my two best players for Westies. Good to see Chubby back and whilst he didnt start very well, ended the game well....and took a couple of huge pack mark.

Norwood were playing with the mini league goals. I have never seen so many kicks across the ground in a game...they had more across kicks than forward kicks.

Take the 2 points, but not totally happy with the win.

I think the reason why we dropped off in the last quarter was that we had noone left on the bench, with Green, Harding and Webb all struggling with injury.

West would have to be pretty happy with 4500, the Norwood vs Eagles match last week was 1900 at the neighbouring venue for a Saturday Afternoon match. West would have to have made some coin out of the crowd tonight, will be interesting to see how they fare with the Friday night match against Port at Richmond.

It cant be the greatest time to be a Norwood supporter at present, yet when Bassett took the job most people would have been on the understanding that he would be focusing towards junior development for this year after the losses of players to the club and the ban on recruiting which took them a step backwards from the difficult position they were already in as a club. Wins will come to Norwood this season, its just a case of persevering and sticking with them whilst they are struggling unlike the Termite supporters who spend their time sledging or ignoring the club whilst they are doing poorly then coming back out again once they get a run on of wins!

Electronic Scoreboard not working at all during the LeaguE (stopped working in Reserves 4TH Q), with no back up used- not good enough for SANFL with the PA having to announce scoreline after each score. Surely they would have planned for such an event and had a plan b, obviously not.

A boring game really, that didnt reach any great heights. My votes for the game
3 votes - Promo girls for Bundy (5 cougars thanks)
2 votes - Rowe tackling his teammate in front of the grandstand during the last quarter (should have been holding the ball!!!)
1 vote - the "Skyshow" with fireworks behind the Northern goals.

both of chris chubbs' marks were highlights

norwood may have found a full forward at long last in mathew davis

norwood need to be a lot more direct if they intend on winning

was a lot more entertaining than last sundays port v north match

is scott bricknell the most underated half back flanker in the league ?

west will play in the finals this year

anzac night could be the early battle for the spoon

who pulled* the power from the scoreboard ?

we all have a go at the central supporters who let off flares but tonight whoever let the fireworks off was just as disgraceful (i was too far away to know which team these idiots barracked for but it is disgraceful)

That was the highlight of the night for mine.

Insipid performance, we're rubbish. Football's not even really enjoyable anymore.

No, not use to winning. In fact was still nervous with 5 mins to go.
It was a game with a lack of skill, showing why both teams finished outside the 5 last year.

West are in very good shape defensively, and in the midfield. Some very good and pacy players aided by a cleverly constructed game plan by Collins. If they had a couple of match winning forwards, they'd go a long way into September action. I didn't see Glenelg but on what I've seen, I rate West a fair way ahead of South or Eagles.

Their big worry is they dominated Norwood for most of the match and could only get nome by 3 goals. Norwood's problems are far too many to list in one post, and far too many to solve in one year. I'm predicting the 3 byes will be our season's highlights.

Not sure about West fans saying they were bored, a lot of them around me appeared to be enjoying themselves, and rightly so.

There are several ways of looking at this match from a Bloods perspective. We scrambled a win despite making numerous errors and playing poorly or we were crippled by injuries, fought hard and took the points. Either way it was an uninspiring contest against an ordinary but gutsy opposition.
With the electronic scoreboard not working (how embarrassing) and in front of 4500 people we started with Lobbe, S Blesing and Beech in the team. The first Q was all Westies as we had ten shots for goal to Norwood’s 2 with one of them after the siren. Webb had our first on the board in the first minute. It looked ‘how far’ the Bloods at this point. 1Q 4.6, N 2.0
Mistakes started creeping into our game in the second as evidenced by Bennett dropping a sitter in the goalsquare and stuffing another effort when he was one-out with the full back. We booted 2 late in the Q including a helicopter goal from Webb after the siren. Half time WA 8.6, N 4.1.
The 3rdQ belonged to James Ezard as he tried to inspire his team. Bennett booted our first at the 53sec mark but we struggled across half forward with Norwood building their attack from this line. 3Q 11.8, N 6.1.
The last was all Norwood as they outran Westies and outscored us 4.2 to 1.4. All we could do was to bottle the game up as our forward line pretty much shut down with only David Piasente kicking truly. There were some worried Bloods supporters looking in vain at the blank time clock towards the end of this Q. Final score WA 12.10, N 10.3.
Ezard was clearly our best with his running goal and a magnificent smother real standouts. Piasente made valuable contributions over 4 Qs. Pettigrew booted 3 and was our only creative forward. Having played himself back into form he will come under strong consideration from the Power selectors. Our backline was hard working all night with Fisher, Caire, Bricknell and Chubb (mark of the match in the last Q) all getting plenty of touches. R Blesing did some good work. F Caruso was impressive but tries to do too much with the ball and gets caught too often. Apart from 2 great grabs in the last Q Lobbe does little in general field play and the Power could do us a favour by taking him. Bennett kicked 3 and Webb 2. Webb sustained some form of rib injury and spent most of the second half on the bench. Scott Harding rolled his ankle and did little throughout the game. Shannon Green was also injured and our bench was bare for much of the last half. This perhaps put the game in some perspective for the club.
197cm Willets was well and truly beaten by 187km McGuinness and his stint at CHF must now come to an end. He must be tried elsewhere, maybe in the 2s. Our half forward line was especially disappointing and was the kick-off point for Norwood working their way back into the match. Still, let’s be grateful for the 2 points.

Can I suggest West Adelaide spend a little money in the PA system? That was horrible.

Funny that when a flare goes of at a Central night game everyone goes nuts and call for Central to lose the points and so forth.

Fireworks go off at a West game a people are calling it there highlight.
