Anyone know why the SANFL had them...and why they no longer do?
As per tradition, was a nice point of separation from the Vics...

Most SANFL grounds still do.

I think its a good idea, Ive seen at least 3 times in games with all white posts a player in a goalline scramble snap what he thought was a goal (white post either side) only to realise after that he'd kicked a point as the point posts weren't red. Mind you its so rare its hardly worth worrying about but I cant seen any downside to it only a positive.

Malcolm Blight did it once at the MCG.

Like 2 points for a win and the way we calculate percentage, and the fact that we count all representative games in a players stats, I believe that the SANFL are right and the VFL/AFL are wrong.

I noticed they have been changed at Elizabeth, and was wondering if it was because of the Crows v Demons trial?

Makes sense doesn't it - the red point posts potentially may have caused serious damage to the Crows goal kicking...

I find that hard to believe. Stop making stuff up.

A good mate works for the Playford council and was partly responsible for having the ground ready for the clash and yes that was part of the stipulation that the posts were painted white, as well as the re sewing of the grass between the goals and the fence at either end.

I suppose you find it hard to belive they made Central move there trial game the night before because of the threat of rain.

Here we go again another Crows fan who believes the Crows are perfect and don't ever direct SANFL clubs to do stuff.

Geez your footy season is going well what between the cows and deadlegs your 0-8

The crows couldnt care less what colour the point posts were, or if anyone played there the night before. If anything the AFL would have directed it. White point posts for the sake of 1 game? What a load of crap.

Just like how you made up Norwood singing the club song after a trial game.

The behind posts at Hamra Homes Oval have been white for about 7-8 years now. They were one of the first SANFL grounds to change to white behind posts.

So who's telling the truth here? I'll go with Brucetiki.

I wonder if eventually the goal and point posts at all SANFL grounds will end up being replaced with the new tall ones they have in the AFL, particularly with more NAB Challenge games being played amongst the suburban grounds ?

I know it wouldn't be a priority for any of the SANFL clubs and something they wouldn't want to fork out the finances for if not neccesary but you wonder if it will one day eventuate ?

I reckon as new posts are being installed across SA I find that most are all white, probably to save on buying red paint I guess.

I've noticed at Pooraka there are new posts and are all white. If you ask whufc he'll tell ya that the Crows directed that just in case they play a trial game there one day.

A bit off topic but thought it was an intersting comment....

Nathan Brown mentioned "tall" goal posts on the Sunday Footy Show in a discussion with Nathan Thompson about the standard of goalkicking...he said after the AFL changed to the taller posts it gave players the perception that the distance between the goals was more narrow than it was with the shorter posts...

Maybe they need to replace the posts at AAMI with those ones they use for the mini-league!!
