Round 9 - Sturt v Port Magpies @ Unley Sat 22nd May

Postby GWW » Sun May 16, 2010 8:28 pm

The Magpies record against Sturt in recent years has been very poor, and the Double Blues would be expected to add another victory to the tally this week, i think by about 5 goals.

FINALLY... my absolutely all-time favourite fixture for the season... STURT v PORT... doesn't get any better than that... closely followed by PORT v STURT at the Devil's Playground...

Centrals might be the measuring stick of the competition, but for me, this is the REAL DEAL... just love seeing the Oxford and Cambridge blue against the backdrop of the prison bars... total tradition.

Anyway...

As for the match, sadly Port are not the team they were, hopefully they'll get back there, but I'm confident Sturt will put together enough quarters to win the match, but I don't believe we'll be convincing.

We're still looking months away from being anywhere near decent...

There's nothing wrong with the spirit or talent in the Magpies squad, just need to limit the turnovers and brainfades that inexperienced players are prone to.

Hopefully Kory Beard was good enough for a call up to the League side. We need some bigger targets.

First game in 6 years! Hope they don't let you down Jimmy... :-s

Can we expect any changes to the side that played the Panthers? I don't like the idea of bringing guys in for a week and then dropping them back the next...

Can't make it either, mates wedding, the only consolation is that it's up at Airlie Beach. Could be bloody Tahiti, doesn't make up for missing Sturt v Port at Unley.

So Sturt get Jaensch back after being suspended by a week by the AFC.

Matthew. :(

Magpies might get Johncock back too.

Here are the teams for this week (for some stupid reason Adelaide Now has the teams from the backline and I can't be bothered re-arranging them):

Sturt

HF: Hinge, Johncock, Wark
F: Gum, Chambers, Sharples

In: McIntyre, Jaensche
Out:

Port Adelaide
B: Johhncock, Mercer, Shannon
HB: Clinch, Lokan, Carr
C: Dolling, Summerton, Biasci
HF: Miller, Cloke, Rose
F: Clayton, Thurgood, Fitzgerald
R: Meiklejohn, Young, Kirkwood
Int: Hall, Weetra, Watson, Madden, Phillips

it will be an interesting game at Unley. Sturt aiming for 2 wins in a row for the first time this year and Port going for their second win. Stiffy might line up on Stiffy which will be a good clash. for me, Sturt by 3 goals.

Sturt by 400 points, give or take 10 goals.
It's all the SANFL's fault.
